Swype is da bomb diggity

Installed Swype the other day on my Dinc. I'm convinced this is one of the best apps for the phone. It took a few hours to get used to it, but now I am pretty quick with it.

You know... the funny thing is that I REFUSED to use Swype for the longest time. I finally tried it and hated it.

When I gave it a shot again a few weeks later I fell in love with it!!! I can't imaging texting without it now!

I have been using it for over a month and while I like it, I am not THAT excited over it =)

My biggest annoyance is the difficulty in using numbers and punctuational. At least for me, it's much faster to just revert to "normal" typing for those things, and the "swyping" for words.

Did I miss something somewhere...how did the Dinc get swype back? Is it in the Market now? (crosses fingers)

I'm one of those users that missed the initial beta for Swype and waits for the Swype devs to include me in the next wave (if there is a next wave!).

I got tired of waiting since I do like the swipe method of spelling so I dropped a few dimes on the Ultra Keyboard.

I had a hard time getting used to it but now that I have forced myself to retry it there is no substitute. Easiest way by far. My fingers are just to big to try and text any other way now..

Has any tried Ultra Keyboard, its a good alternative to Swipe

I'd use SlideIT right now if it weren't nearly $10 CDN, maybe if it was $4 or something, for now you can use the SlideIT demo and reinstall it when it expires. It's almost as good as Swype and a couple more features like drawing numbers on a scratchpad, it's pretty convenient.

My Swype for the Droid X seems great. It works fantastic except for the fact that it doesn't recognize words like "all, I'll, and pretty." There's are a few more but mostly the ones that have a double letter. All comes up as al, and I'll comes up as il. I'm not sure why or how to fix this. Otherwise on the Droid X, I can text faster without Swype.

EDIT: And also good, it goes to god. Every god damn time.

You have to use a little curly q motion to get the double letters. It works, but it takes a little practice.

AHH that a way. Went through the tutorial lol. Now. Speed vs Accuracy? Which one do you want to choose? And also the pop up box, how often do you want that up?

Yeah, you need to trace a circle for double letters, it works great.

As for Speed vs. Accuracy, I left it in in the middle, same with how often the box pops up.

I loved Swype up until the last couple updates (Moto Droid, BTW). I'm not sure if anything even changed in the updates, but it seems I'm having to delete every other word because it keeps assuming it knows what word I want without displaying the dialog box for words. Even if I set the word choice window to "always" appear, the setting seems to only hold for the first couple times I use Swype afterwords, then it starts assuming again without prompting me.

Too many times has "yeah" turned into "Utah", "lol" to "lil" and other common words it messes up. It may be my fault for the misspelling, but it should at least prompt me to confirm the word.
