Hancent & groups?

Hi I love Handcent and I know it's super-easy to send message to a group of contacts but I have two questions that I have not been able to figure out:

1) is there a way to create a group and name it instead of having it appear as just a list of people?

2) whenever I send a message to a group it shows each individual message getting sent...is there a way to 'consolidate' this so when I send a message to the group I only see the message I sent once instead of once for each contact it is being sent to?

I might be off base but I thought I should try.

On a computer if you send the email to your address and add all the recipients in the cc you would only get one email.

The recipients would also not see a list of people that received the email.

Again just a shot in the dark.

That I can see there isn't a way. Might have to use another third party app like Group SMS which does allow to save groups. If handcent implemented the save group option it would be great.

There is a setting for that.:
Handcent>Menu>settings>Send message settings>send as split threads needs to be unchecked.

As for the question about groups.

I wend into Handcent and created a new message. Clicked on the + sign to search for contacts and then saw three tabs: contacts, Groups, Recent.

I chose the Groups tab and it showed all the groups I have set up on my contacts list on the GMail website.

Well I'll be darn, learn something new everyday. I've had that and never knew it. I just never set up my groups in my Google contacts which is why I never saw it.

Is there anyway, besides the google a/c way, to save groups through Handcent?

I don't think in Handcent. You might be able to create a group list, in your contacs list, and try it from there. You know, send text message to group. I'll try it out and see if it works and report back.
