Market Breaks 100,000 Barrier

this was news from 2-3 days ago, anyways does it really matter how many apps there is? its not like some one is going to install all 100,000 of them, and most of them are useless anyway, there is only a few apps that are actually useful, just like itunes, they may have 250 or 300,000 but most of them are like i said useless or just copy of other apps...
does the 100,000 include all the TEST apps, too?

Agreed it was news from 2-3 days ago, but when I did a search on here from what I could find it hadn't been posted yet HERE. Agreed most of them will NEVER find their way to my handset but it seems newsworthy since many people outside of the Android community never anticipated the Market growing this quickly or to this degree. The biggest piece of information here is Android is expanding at an exponential rate. If that doesn't interest you, move on, there is nothing to see here.
I've never understood the "most apps in the market/store" competition. I suppose it could be possible that if there were more apps in the store there would be a better probability of the app you are looking for exists. Unfortunately, that often times isn't the case. If there are 100,000 apps (or 300,000) and the one you need/want isn't there, it's a fail. If there were only 3 apps in the market but those were the only three you needed, then it's a rousing success. If it's only bragging rights, then brag away, but there will always be somebody ready to beat your statistic, if it isn't beaten already.

If I'm reading that right, Nokia #1, Blackberry #2, Android #3, iPhone #4, Windows Mobile #5?My intent in posting this was not to argue over who has the biggest market share, who has the best Market/AppStore or any of the anything like that. My intent was simply to post an article that I read saying that Android Market reports being over the 100,000 app mark and to say that it is growing at a rapid rate. Much more quickly than most anyone (or almost anyone) could have predicted when Android hit the mainstream.

That is only valid IF each app were platform specific. While it is true some apps do require a minimum version to run, it's not the statistic at hand. Total number is total number regardless of any minimum requirement.
The entire intelligent world and several rocks recognize that comparison to be specious and argumentative.

odd thoughts....about size and not that big a deal..
so.. taking your opinion .. the example would be..

sure.. most of what you need, most of the time, can be found at 7eleven. But I like the option to find more.. if I wanted to.
