Help Has anyone gotten the droid2 verizon 2.3.20 update?

My phone for some reason wont update. So I have not gotten the update. Curious to see if anyone has it though.

I didn't receive it. I got tired of waiting and just flashed the 2.3.20 SBF. Battery life was already good for me and this update made it even better. I also like how they raised the lock-screen slider like on the Droid1.

got it to work, i'm going to run it unrooted all day tomorrow to see how battery life is. i'll let yinz know.

You don't have to root to run SBF. I was rooted but SBFed back to Stock 2.2. Never rooted my phone and then flashed SBF 2.3.2. It's running fine and I'm probably going to root it tomorrow.

The One Click Root App worked excellently after flashing 2.3.2 last night. I had to redownload BusyBox for Titanium Backup to pickup on the fact that I had Root. Otherwise it's running smoothly and swiftly.

My phone wont update. Will verizon update it for me if I go in?

Depends. I've heard that this pre-release was a test group more than a full blown OTA update. In which case the answer would be more than likely no. If in fact it is a full blown OTA, then you could push the issue at your local store. Afterall, there is a reason why they do it in waves.

I wish we could update via the internet over the usb cable hooked up to a computer. My understanding though is that option was blocked. Not sure if it was Motorola or Google that did that, but one of them did.

Verizon has information on it on their website. Even steps on how to update over the air.

So it is an official update.

It looks like it has some important fixes, like improved battery life and faster transitions between 3g and wifi.

The initial wave of updates was a test to ensure it wouldn't be a buggy OTA. Now that they've gone nationwide, it's a lot easier for folks to simply go to their settings and pull the update.

Hmmm. Most not of rolled out here in Western Washington, USA, because I still cannot update.

That's what make the screen turn off when you're holding the phone to your face. It reduces the chances of you hitting a button with your face when on a call.

Never heard of that. That sounds cool though. Thanks for telling us about it.

iavswn:

You can't miss it unless you don't make any calls.

1. Make call.

2. Remove phone from face and look at it during a call; you'll see the phones screen come back on from being off. That is if you're using a stock Droid 2 like me.

Be well,

David
