Facebook for Android just got push notifications and chat!

Check the App Market for the update! :D

EDIT: I still need to test and make sure their working, but finally the Facebook folks are getting on the ball.
 
It really annoys me that there's no option to delete comments through the Facebook app. They have the option on the iPhone version, don't see why they don't have it for the Android version.

I *think* you go to Facebook > Notifications > Then press Menu > Then Settings

In there, you can set intervals for checking for updates. That isn't really "pushing" though is it? Unless I am missing something (and that was there before, I've never looked to be honest!)

Yea that was there before. I'll try enabling email updates later.
 
I can confirm with my stock Droid incredible that I'm now getting the comment notifications outside of the app.

Haven't seen if the chat does it yet though.

No, I ever had email notification enabled.

When you open the app go to the screen that gives you the option to choose feeds,profile etc.
Press the menu button on your phone and click on settings. Make sure all the notification stuff you want to use is checked.

That's the same way it was before. I've had friend requests and messages that I was never notified about. What's supposed to be different now?
 
ooooook.....so...I'm kind of stressed about Facebook right now. Please help me:

It looks like my EMAIL notifications are coming to me in HTML format now. They WERE in plain text format for years - even when I had my Blackberry. Not a big deal HTML or Plain Text..the problem I am experiencing, and many others (from other forums) is that the HTML email notifications from Facebook you can't simply reply to any longer. It will let you reply to the email to post to your News Feed..however, it doesn't post!

I have attempted to get ahold of Facebook via the Bug link...10 times now..and have had no luck at a reply or a fix...

NOW, they release the new version of Facebook for Android...so, now...coupled with the previous problem above...I now have PUSH notifications AND email notifications coming to my phone--2x the notifications...I prefer the email notifications over the push notifications at this point.

How do I turn OFF the Facebook push notifications? and HOW do I get ahold of Facebook to fix the HTML email reply address?

Please advise, almost ready to delete facebook all together.

Go into Facebook settings on your device, and un-check the notifications there.

For Facebook on your PC, go to Account, Account Settings, Notifications. From there you determine what notifications you want.

I tried that and had my sister comment on my wall and post on my wall. I got nothing :-/
 
Just got a comment on a picture posted. Push working on this D1 2.2.1.

If I disable the email notifications, will I still get push?

The pic was posted via the app (1.5) after I updated the FB app
 
im using a droid 2 running 2.2, and the only notifications i get through the app is frirnd requests, messages and event invites. no comments or anything.
