2.2 Ranting.

Well first off. I had to take it in to a sprint store to get it updated, because it failed. Second off, I STILL cant connected via usb to my computer, and third, they got rid of the feature where you dial a number, and it shows if its in your contacts.... Oh and also. I cant find z4root, I need to delete all this crap so my battery doesn't die. Someone help me on deleting stock apps when I cant connect via usb to my computer.

my wife has the same problem with her intercept not connecting to the computer using the usb, it charges just doesnt let me open folders on the comp. mine however does work, i dont get it

Are you using the stock cable, or an aftermarket one?

Also is USB debugging on under Menu>Applications>Development>USb Debugging.

A lot of people simply don't check this setting because they don't know too. It should not be checked unless you know what to do with it.

And did you install the drivers necessary to mount the phone to the computer? I was unable to connect my wife's Intercept until I installed some samsung drivers.

Try these. Also have you restarted the phone and computer at all. It will sometimes hang if you attempt to plug in to devices at the same time or didn't safely remove hardware? Just trying to help. Please don't take as I don't think you know better.

I have the same problem.... when I tried to install the driver software for (xp/vista) it says my processor type is not supported b/c im running 7

Junefabrics.com under samsung drivers should work too.sorry posting from phandroid app so can't include link. Also are both running 2.2?

I don't know about xp but under windows 7 it just worked. I did have it not show up once but a power cycle fixed it. If you have a ton of things running in the background it may not be able to slog through everything to run the usb storage emulation driver internally. This isn't a speedster of a phone in the cpu dept and not in ram amounts either. You do have to actively manage the phones ram usage much like a windows machine. Use the built in task killed to kill everything then connect using the stock cable.

You might want to give this a try if you have a USB keyboard or LCD display with USB port connected to your computer. Most likely, it is a USB1.1 port on the keyboard or LCD display, rather than the faster speed USB2.0 ports. There are even USB1.1 hubs for purchase.

Try the slower USB1.1 port and see if you can get the USB Connected message in the notification area with the icon. If so, pull down the notification area and select the Mount button. Now the internal SD card should be seen by the PC as a flash drive with it's own letter.

Another possibility for you if you have a WiFi router at home: download SwiFTP server from the Market. Download a free FTP client like FileZilla. You can move files back and forth, delete, rename, create directories and generally use the USB cable for charging only if you want.
