Droid 2 Global Memory Card Switch

Hello Everybody,

I'm new to this site, and fairly amateur when it comes to android, so please bear with me...I've had a Droid 1 since it first came out and it finally died the other day. Basically it started working really slow, and then it came to the point where it'll restart every time I try to open an app.

Through insurance, I was able to get a Droid 2 Global, which has been great so far. Since the Droid 2 Global only comes with an 8gb memory card, I wanted to try to switch it with the memory card from my Droid 1. Does anyone recommend not doing this at all? I'm hesitant because do you think it's possible that there could have been something on it that caused my first phone to crash?

Additionally, before I take out the 8gb card, I want to make sure I have everything on it that I need...can anyone verify what I would need to keep on my current Droid 2 memory card (not sure if there are standard apps/programs on it), and how I can move it to the internal memory or my 16gb card?

Thank you very much in advance! And sorry if I sound like a beginner :o

sure go a head.
I have my same 16gb microsd card from my D1 in my D2.
If there is anything on the memory card that might corrupt your D2G (I doubt it), you can format the 16gb card, you can do this via any PC or phone or camera, etc

There shouldn't be anything on the 8gb memory card. No apps are saved by defualt on the SD card, you have to move them there. You can verify this by using a file explorer on your D2G or browsing it on a computer

Thanks for the info! How would I reformat the 16gb on my computer?

plug it into a card reader, right click, format.
These instructions are for windows.
^this, however you will need a microSD adapter to make it a USB drive or SD card

Like this, the Moto droids don't come with this but other phones might.

If not, you can put the memory card in your D2G and go to settings>SD Card and Storage> Format SD car (may need to unmount the SD card). I haven't heard of anything auto running from the SD card on a brand new phone unless the user automatically tells it to run, so I think you'll be OK.
