android musics player vs. mp3/ipod

Hello all. I recently bought a htc wildfire and have found the battery life to be quite low (only lasts a day or so). I'm pondering purchasing an ipod nano or other mp3 player for music, as I figure that if I play music on my phone it will rundown the battery more quickly and I may also have to get an sd card with more memory (currently only have 2gb). Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Do you use a different music player aside from your android phone or have tips about how to make the battery last longer while playing music etc?

I realize that it might just be best for me to upload my music onto my phone and try using it for music for a few days and seeing how it goes; however, I'm currently home for the holidays where ipods and other mp3 players are cheaper than the country where I go to university. I need to make the decision soonish and don't have too many days to test it out. So any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Which is normal for a smartphone.

Actually, listening to music on your phone uses hardly any battery at all. I can listen to music for 2 hours or so, and the battery doesnt drain any more than normal. Even streaming Pandora to the phone uses very little battery.

just make sure you keep the screen off, that uses a lot of battery if you leave the screen on.

The main problem is storage really. I have 170GB of music so it's not realistic for me to use my phone for music, as I want to have all of my music available to me. If you have 32GB or less than totally grab a bigger SD card and go for it. Otherwise I'd look into other options.

Just charge it every night? I only use my phone for music now (about 1hr~2hrs a day) and I just charge my phone every night. The only problem I have is putting all my music on it, but pandora seems to help in that respect! :D

Use subsonic, it streams your music from a home computer and you can limit how much to keep on the phone's storage.
Like the poster above suggested, get a music streaming app. I could not get Subsonic to work. So I would suggest using Audiogalagy instead. It was very easy to setup. Hightly recommended.
