Help Will the unlocked HTC Desire HD work in India?

if I can recall correctly, I use to have a HTC P3300 a windows mobile 6.5 phone, and I tried a tata docomo sim in it and it didnt worked...all other sim use to work in it...so maybe some problem with HTC handset and docomo compatibility...try using ur docomo sim into other HTC phone and see if it work at all ...

Same problem with Docomo SIM has been reported in xda. Here is the quote:

I found some strange problem, Mumbai DOCOMO sim is only working for GPRS , when i select manual network with Tata Docomo giving me error message that your SIM is not authorised to work with device on other hand GPRS is working on same SIM card on DHD. Vodafone is working perfectly ok.
 
Got it Boys .. I got it :) .. DHD from QuickConnect, Banashankari, Bangalore in 26.8k with free screenguard. :) DHD is really fast and looks are also very good. Just go and buy this, you won't be disappointed for sure. :)

PS - What a gift for me on new year eve ..

how do u find the screen quality ? which phone u own before for comparison ?
 
anyone know how to delete htcsense account both from phone and website and then add again ?

I am having hardtime making htcsense.com work...r u guys able to work it fine with all functionalities?
 
Guys! i just installed the dolphin browser on my DHD.. i recommend it 2 u ppl to!.. gr8 app.. the browsing is a tad smoother now!..try it!

Same here.I was away for new year bash so could not tried it lot.
But whenever i tried i cudnt make it work.

Basically I am stuck at Verify Device screen.I click on "I had log in on my phone". But it never goes through. :confused:

How is that screen guard? Is it perfect fit and my main question is why you paid 26.8K? is it screen guard is worth for 800?

Dude I am planning on buying DHD but have a Docomo SIM.
Please let me know is it that you are not able to use it for making calls or browsing using GPRS / 3G.
if it is GPRS then it can be a issue of Settings..

Please let me know..
 
is the color of DHD written on the box cover, i mean that can we find out the color without unboxing the device?
i asked a dealer about black colour DHD, but i cant be sure untill i myself have a look.

In india only one color launched and it is dark brown. yes color is mentioned in the box!

Thanks Saj. Screen quality is superb. My old phone is a puny one - Sony Ericsson K 750i, bought it in Rs. 9,600 in July 2006. Of course DHD can't be compared with that phone. Though before buying DHD, I got hands on experience on Samsung Galaxy S, 2.1, as my brother (Soft. Engineer) has got a Galaxy-S testing unit from US :D. I liked Galaxy also a lot - no complaints at all & I was debating with myself to buy either XT720-Milestone2 or Galaxy-S & meanwhile DHD gave it's Darshan to us. :D

While I compare the screens, no doubt Galaxy-S wins but DHD has got lot more so I was convinced to buy DHD. And after buying, when I keep both the screens side-by-side, I do not regret my decision at all. :)

@Saj and Andry - Have not tried and do not plan to try htcsense.com soon. Lot many folks are finding trouble to get it through and not in India but in other countries as well. Though, I am certainly looking forward to enjoy features like 'phone locator', 'phone lock' etc. :) I will try HTCsense.com in 1/2 days-1 week. :)

Smnrock has already answered and I wanted to post a snapshot of the box, for you, which I took from my DHD but cannot find an option of sending the image file to laptop via bluetooth. (Also couldn't manage to try accessing SD card from laptop via USB cable - am afraid of mounting and unmounting business :( ). Anybody help please - how to access 8GB SD card via USB cable ? :o

Screen guard is nice and working okay for me (I do not have any experience with any other screen guard). When DHD is in sleep mode, you can easily see the finger prints on its screen otherwise 50% of screen brightness is enough to show you nice screen of DHD. :)

The screen guard is probably a local one (brand name was copper ..) & the mechanic of the shop applied it on DHD in 5-10 minutes. He did use scissors to chop off 2-5% of original screen guard - he did his job nicely. He did say that screen guard which he has applied costs Rs.400 in market but I doubt it.

Why I paid 26.8k :D? In Bangalore, I heard of that 2-5 people got DHD in 26k from this shop only. And this shop guy had perfectly realised that he is the only one offering the cheapest DHD in town - I knew it & he revealed this secret on my face :D. I had been talking to him for 2-3 days. Moreover, I already have had enquired 4 other shops - New Jagat Associates, Marathahalli - 27k; PDA Cafe Garuda Mall - 27.8k; Sangeetha Mobiles, Forum Mall - 28.2k; Akshar Telecom - 27.8k. No one was willing to lessen even a single paise. I considered 26.8k as best price. And the shop owner gave me screen guard for free - I was convinced. :)

connect DHD with usb cable to ur laptop -> you will see some options to choose from on ur phone screen -> select "disk drive" mode -> thats it, on ur laptop some drivers will be installed and u will see ur sd card as a disk drive

Will do in late evening as I am doing the first battery discharge since this morning with lots of surfing, bluetooth transfer, contacts syncing, phone calls, music etc. :) Will post the details in the 'Battery' thread.

Oh yes, on a short note, Battery is quite good. I am very happy with the provided battery. :)

1. How to send multiple files to DHD via bluetooth ? My laptop and DHD are showing connected & not paired. :( For every file I send to DHD, it asks me to accept it :( (also interuppts the music being played for a second). Any idea how to send one or multiple files in one-go :o ?

2. How to view data folder in DHD ? How to see where are my music files, image files etc stored - Gallery ? I have seen somewhere my DHD showing 8GB (7GB usable) memory but I want to know how much memory I am using and hence would like to know that which folders/files/contacts/temp-cache files are consuming how much memory ?

The DHD box reads - Network: HSPA/WCDMA (900/2100 MHZ), GSM/GPRS/Edge (850/900/1800/1900 MhZ).

Find out from web/caling Docomo customer care that whether Docomo supports the above network and let people know here please.
