I can't imagine it taking that long if its as similar in software as the incredible and evo as it seems like it is

Sooo... HTC's website looks like they unveil the phone on the 6th. Is that for CES, I haven't really been keeping up here. Is there any chance that would be the release date on VZW? If not, how long does it generally take to release a phone on VZW after it is unveiled like that?
More importantly... I needed another phone, I'm not going to deal with the Asurion *&#$@ anymore and used my upgrade to get a DX. At the time, there was no reliable indication when this phone may really be released. I have until Jan 11 on my 30 day exchange.
If I return the DX within the 30 day period, would I then still have my upgrade to use again when this phone is released, or do they say "HaHa, no more upgrades for you, but we still have you for two more years!! *evil laugh*"

You can return it once and still have an upgrade but once you use your upgrade th aexons time you are stuck with that phone

Added: I hope this device has a microsd slot. Mega lame on new the Tmo device with no microsd. All that device is a rebranded Windows phone- hence no microsd.

It would be great if this thing launched during, or right after CES. I seem to remember though, the Incredible was shown in VZW's system in February, and the device did not launch until April 29th.

I think the specs linked at Phandroid are BUNK. There currently is no mass shipment ready 1.2 ghz dualcore. All OEMs have stated 1.2ghz dual cores will be late in 2011.
Nice if a super secret Snapdragon dual core, but with Tegra 2 being the standard for "Honeycomb" dev work now and no announced alternative ready to mass ship, either the 1.2ghz is wrong, or the dualcore is.
gTablet has spoiled me with Tegra 2. 2500 Q scores, very smooth Flash on higher res sites and smooth 3D PSX gaming. The Inc will have to do for me until a Tegra 2 device is released WITH a microsd slot.

Nothing to worry about- for all it's secrecy, Apple is horrible at keeping secrets the months leading up to a release. So it's not coming out anytime soon.
Apple went with edge before they went with 3g on their 2nd gen iPhone. So I imagine that Apple will do the same with CDMA and LTE. So you can have a CDMA iPhone or a LTE Thunderbolt. It won't be until next year that Apple releases a LTE phone. Apple's gonna drop the ball on this one. Big time. And because they release one phone, once a year, 2011 is the year where Android really pulls ahead of iOS. 2010 was Android all about catching up.

Oh man that's terrible!
I remember anxiously awaiting the Omnia2 and seeing a post where it was found in their inventory like here....I waited another 3 months before getting a Droid. If I remember correctly it was almost 6 months from when the screenshot was leaked till it was available in stores.

I would imagine that Engadget will have something just moments shy of live.
The reason the omnia 2 took so long is because they kept having problems when they tested the phone and the fact that not too many people wanted the omnia 2 after the omnia

I'm quite happy with my Dinc - for now anyway - not missing my OG at all.
Amazing what the additional bit of RAM will do to performance!
I'm going to get the Thunderbolt for sure for my wife's birthday in February (if it's out by then).
Right now, what I'm mostly interested in spec-wise is being able to best the iPhone 4 with screen size, video and camera specs, and with display qualities. I just got spanked yesterday by a fanboy showing off the Retina display, and truthfully, it did have absolutely stunning pics and video, and it put my Dinc to shame (I know, I know -- year old technology). I want to get even with the Thunderbolt if the specs are there.

Yeah the 6th was just when it was supposed to be announced so im sure just another verizon spouting nonsense like usual although i would love for it to be released the 12th
Well then I guess this is the most concrete evidence we have so far. The higher management is all being told the 12th. According to the picture it is in their inventory system now. So the 12th seems like it could be right !

Lets hope they are right otherwise you may hear it from some angry forum members who will complain well its the 12th and still not released lol. Thanks for the info though
