Android music player incorrectly reading ID3 tags

linear4

Lurker
It only happens on some of the files (5 out of around 30 artists), but it's quite annoying. The image below shows what is going on:

On some of the files it seems to remove the first 4 letters (not including spaces) and then appends TALB to the end of the artist name, TDRC to the end of the song name and TPE2 to the end of the album name. What could be causing this? The files all read properly in foobar2k, mp3tagit and mediamonkey.

I am able to fix them in the phone itself by using the Android ID3 app and just rewriting the ID3 tags, but then if I have to copy them over again later I would have to do that all over again. For 1/6 of my music collection, that is a daunting process.

Is there something I can do on my PC side to fix this all at once?

Weird. Are these mp3's a different id3 tag version maybe?

Looks like it was. I went through them with mp3tag and noticed they had id3 v2.4 tags rather than the other 2.3 which most software supports. Converting them to the older version seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks!
