im wondering if i should root it? and if so how do you do this?

also what is the best way to make the battery last longer?

and also what is launcher pro?

What is root:

What is rooting and why should I do it? The pros & cons of Android rooting

rooting gives you "superuser" (admin basically) permissions on your phone. YES you SHOULD ROOT! the easiest way is a one click method with no pc involved. i used z4root. once you root, you can back up apps, install a wifi tether app, etc. if you root, you can install an overclocking app which will let you overclock AND underclock! underclocking while the screen is off will help save battery life. Or, even underclocking when the screen is ON will save battery life.

launcher pro is a home replacement app. it does NOT require root. It replaces the stock launcher with a custom built one. you can customize the dock with different icons and dock backgrounds, change the number of homescreens, backup your homescreen layouts, and tons of other options. IMO, it reduces the LAG of the stock launcher by A LOT! this is something you should download and try out even if you dont decide to root.
