Notification ringotone (cant change?)

Ok guys... My notification ringtones that i have downloaed and SET will not work it keeps playing the ADROID system ringtones even though I may have others selected????

I used ZEDGE to fing a ringtone but can't get it to play when i receive a TEXT? It always plays the Adroid System tone even though the ZEDGE one is selected when I go into sounds and notifications?


any ideas?


My Wifes phone is doing something similar everytime she restarts her phone she has to go back and select the notification she wants. (or it defaults to Adroid system)


Phones are US CELLULAR Samsung Mesmerize. (Galaxy S)
 
I have a Droid X so I'm not sure if your settings are the same as mine. To set the notification for texts you need to open up Messaging. Then press the menu button and Message Settings > Text Messaging > Select ringtone. You should be able to select the sounds you want for there.

Thanks but I don't have that option...

I have to be at the home screen and push menu and then sounds and display and then notification ringtone. ( I have done that but it keeps defaulting to ANY that i select in the ADROID system sounds) I cannot get it to play a other sounds ANYMORE It worked fine for a while? Nothing was changed that i know of?
 
The problem seems to be that you're changing your notification at the home screen menu, when you should be changing it in the messaging app menu. Go to messaging, menu, settings, select ringtone. You should have these options on a galaxy s.
