I'm sad :( Lost my Nexus

Hi Roze I am very happy your are getting an NS! ...but I think you mentioned somewhere that you are on Bell and the NS does not currently work at 3G speeds on that network.

Nexus S: 900, 1700, 2100 MHz <--- I think the only Canadian carrier at the moment on this band is WindMobile.

So the NS will work on Bell but at Edge speed... Sorry to rain on your Nexus parade.. :(

Rogers, same difference really. And I know, that was my first logic thoughts after I threw bf with lots of kisses/hugs/'you're great'/'thanks babe' was 'damn...not the right frequency...' lol.

I thought that when the AT&T N1 comes out...I'll get that but then I realized I can't since I put sentimental feelings on objects. So I can't possibly sell my bf's gift :( I have a year on my contract left...so might switch until then.

I just hope that Edge on Rogers is 'good' on the NS *crosses fingers*

Hey, didn't you use your phone with wifi only? Or is my memory failing me right now? :p
I'm usually on edge too, it's really not that bad as long as you're not trying to stream video.

No your memory is not failing you. I was dataless for a good 5 months. I got data in October when Rogers had their 'data' sale, lol. Usually data cost $25 for 500mb which I find is a big fat bloody rip off! So with the sale, it's $30 for 6GB...too good of an offer to pass.

Right you are, in my early nexus days I was on wifi only too. Until I discovered a provider where I get a free monthly 2gb, I couldn't imagine being without mobile data again. :p

Damn...I want free data. I can live without data actually. Data is nice but not needed for me.

Great end to this thread. I guess you can keep the BF after all. ;) I really will be interested in the review.

Maybe there should be a Nexus forum for owners of anything Nexus so we N1-ers don't lose you. :D

You had a Nexus One without data?

When I was in Europe I never got around to buy a new Sim card, my phone was useless to me lol.

I carried it around with me to just look cool, but I couldn't do anything with it. haha.

I have a PAYG bucket of data, but I rarely use it. I mostly just use wifi. I get a lot done on my Nexus One.

So I've FINALLY got my Android phone *yay*. Been living with the BB for 4 months now, so I'm happy it can now finally go into its retirement! I am now the proud owner of the Atrix and LOVING this phone! <3 Just wanted to updated everyone :)

Cheers,
Roze

Congratulations :D
Glad to hear you like the atrix - I just recommended it to a friend so now I feel ok about doing so

The Atrix is out in the UK already? :) Phone is super fast and super smooth. Only bother is Motoblur, which atm is a love/hate for me.

Come on Roze you have to give us a bit more then that, whats the love/hate between the N1 and Atrix? Also, I thought you would have slapped LauncherPro on that baby from day one.

haha XD Ok you asked for it, don’t complain if this post is too long, Mostly...though any comparison I have is very tainted by not using the N1 for 4 months. I slapped on ADW after trying out motoblur for a day. Thought I'd give it a try before rejecting it completely, lol. My love/hate, some of the apps they have are very useful and the UI is very nice. My hate is simply the widgets are UGLY :/ I don't need the title to take up half of the widget thank you very much. I'm against LP due to how Feddie handled some major issues with the users :/ The phone is pretty FAST; it's so responsive with single and multiple fingers. I really like the fingerprint proof coating on the gorilla glass. One issue I had with the Nexus One was that it was a BIG fingerprint magnet

The phone itself is pretty nicely built...for being mostly plastic. It's quite slippery, compared to the N1. I really like HTC rubberized plastic, it's nice and classy. I didn't feel the need for a case with the N1, but I got one for the Atrix.

Flash already came preinstalled on the Atrix, which was very surprising and the Atrix has Flash 10.2 (which isn't out on the market). Browsing the web was a charm and watching flash videos on BBC news and other flash site was very nice. I downloaded Flash for my N1 but it basically took up most of my memory app space, so I had to uninstall it. My experience on the N1 wasn't spectacular, lol. It might have been because flash was still beta, but it was slow when I tried it out. The accelerometer seems to be quite fast when changing position. It took less than 1 sec compared to 3-5 secs I experienced with my N1 (I think I had a thread on that here).

Watching youtube video is very FAST as well, lol. I watched 710hp HQ videos and I don’t have to wait for the video to buffer. I watch the videos instantaneous (over WIFI). I remember the Nexus One, I had to wait for the phone to buffer before I played the video.

I'm getting use to some of Motoblur integrations, like there's no FB dedicated app. It's through Motoblur, which kind of sucks...because if you want FB...you get all of the FB contacts in your Contacts. And there doesn't seem to be a way to only sync FB contacts with your existing contacts. I remembered that setting is in the FB app on the Nexus One. The only work around I found is to sign out of the Motoblur FB account, dl FB from the market. I need to unlock my phone, been testing it out to make sure it's not a dubbed so I can exchange it without spending money on another code. So far so good :)

Motoblur has some good apps like an alarm/timer app, Files (like Astro), a DLNA to share files over wifi, Media Share (don't know the diff b/t this and the DLNA app) and the webtop connect (didn't buy the dock so that's useless). I also has a task manager, which I think is stupid and pretty basic, you can end the app or put it into the auto end list.

My favourite feature is the finger print scanner. It's very responsive and quite useful since I hate entering long passwords. I think that should be the standard for all Android phones!

The qHD LCD display is nice but not as good as AMOLED and can't compare it to the SAMOLED. The screen doesn't look bad by itself but when you put it beside a SGS, it's not a 'vibrant', lol. The camera is decent. Without flash, I think the Nexus One is better, as the Atrix gives some of the colour a more faded look. When there's a flash, the picture is much better. The flash isn't overbearing, which I felt was the case with the Nexus One.

I really like that I have 1GB for memory, I hate worrying about app space on my Nexus One.

That’s really all I can think of for now. To sum it up, if I can describe the Atrix in one word, it's FAST!!!

There! Better? :P

No, not yet - T-Mobile says June, but he can wait.

Oh, and Flash updated to 10-2 yesterday, I think.

Aaaargh, jealous much!! :D
On one hand I hope my N1 will last me many more years, on the other I'd almost wish I'd lose it to justify getting that awesome beast!
I think you made the right choice, going with this over the Nexus S tho... as much as it pains me to say that about a google dev phone.

Where I'm from, my Nexus still blows 95% of the phones here out of the market. But looking at this community, I almost feel behind the times already :(

Anyway, best of luck to ya with your new buddy, don't forget where your android-roots lie! Haha :)

Much better Roze, although I think some of your points you would reconsider if you were using your Nexus with GB. But I think you made a good choice, the atrix has a good following. I have been thinking about switching over but I still need the use of wifi hotspot (my tablet masterplan depends on it). I still think LauncherPro is the way to go, one of these days you should give it another shot. Also I agree with Tek, Atrix>SNS.

Ah, OK, I didn't notice :p June is soooo far off >_>;;; I know I can't wait until June XD

Well I do like the Nexus S...for it being a Nexus phone, lol. Though now that Sprint will have the Nexus S 4G...I feel that the Nexus S is a bit diluted :/ I'm thinking the Tmo ppl are a bit jealous that the Sprint version will be able to use 4G and theirs can't. I'd be if I had the Nexus S on Tmo.

I'll never forget my Android roots :P You guys are my Android hommies, though you're like 1/4 of the group now XD I've see the other hommies scattered in their new phone forums. Still miss the whole gang. I can pretty much spot any of the 'N1 regulars', lol.

I just went for the phone that came to Canada first. The Atrix came first and that's the one I got :D Though I think I MIGHT have waited for the Atrix if the NS came out first XD I'm still surprise that the AT&T NS hasn't been released yet :/ The good thing with Canada is that Tethering is free if you have more than 1GB of data on your plan. I think Canadians would have a riot if that wasn't the case...considering it cost $30 for 1GB...

I almost lost my N1 at work and I almost LOST MY MIND. Thought I left it in the truck but it really fell beneath my car seats. I was like a druggie fiending for a hit looking for my N1. Good to hear you got a nice replacement..I've seen the comparison tests with N1 and Atrix and Atrix slightly won the battle. Good deal.

Congratulations, Rose. Glad there is finally a happy ending. Even with CyanogenMod, which installs ADW by default, I quickly switched to Launcher Pro. I don't know the story of what you are talking about --must have missed that-- but I love Launcher Pro.

Do keep us posted here-- or should I "stalk" you over in the Atrix forum. ;)

Thanks goodness you found yours :) I wish I found mine...or really have a clue where I lost it :/

Long story short, Feddie had on his free LP codes where when LP expire, it locks you out and the only allows you to use the browser to update or buy the app. Issue started popping up for members that didn't have 3G/wifi on at that time. They were not able to access their phone. Feddie knew about the issue late August 2010 and said he'd look into it. He didn't do anything until October when complaints were rampant...but for some reason the issue still persist until December/January. AF was FLOODED with complaints that myself and a few other mods had to deal with/contain. I bought the app right away when it was released, so I never had this issue. I find that kind of business ethic is not something I want to support so no matter how great LP is, I refuse to use it.

Wait...you're telling me you haven't been doing that already? :p the Nexus One forum will always be my home away from home ;) lol. Plus someone has to maintain this phone forum, right? ;)

Weird. I don't blame you. I had Launcher Pro for months without paying for the premium version and never had problems. Never knew about it.
