how can i downlolad flash aka .flv files

Hello to the community first of all. My question is this, how can I download flash aka .flv files from web sites and not just youtube I'm not interested in youtube actually. On the pc I used a plugin for firefox. I know there has to be one out there for the videopiles but I can't seem to find one. Please help thx n advance.
