SMS Pop Up Kink

So I was deleting messages on my droid earlier today while a new message simultaneously came in and was deleted. However, the SMS Pop Up application doesn't acknowledge I've read it and everytime I get a new text it tells me I have an extra unread text. This is super annoying. Is there a way to get rid of it? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and that didn't work. Help please!

Go to the SMS Popup settings and in additional settings you will see an option for 'Mark Read'. MAke sure this is checked.

The way i work it on mine, if I want to go back and review the message later, I hit the back button on my phone. This way the message is still marked as unread.
However, if I click on 'close' in the popup, the massage will now show as read.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but it pertains to my situation.

I've followed all the steps.. did the "mark read", disabled receiving notification on the default android messaging BUT.. when I receive a text and press close on the popup.. the top notification bar goes away fine.. but the default "Messages" widget still has the green "1" on top of it. I want that to go away when I press close on the popup.
