Potential Spring customer here, questions

Current T-Mobile customer here. Contracts expiring in May2011. (Well, I lied. Paying $100 ETF in May.) I currently pay appx. $145 a month after taxes. I don't have any discounts with T-Mo. It's me, wifey and mother. If I'm going to Sprint, my brother wants to tag along for the EVO.

If I decide to go with Sprint, I get a 23% monthly discount with them via my employer. I need some math help.

According to the website, I'm looking at the 1500m everything data plan for 4 people, it would be appx. $170 before discount and taxes. It would be appx. $130. Now this doesn't include the $30 (3 data phone fees(after Jan 30)) right? So it would be $160 a month before taxes.

At the moment, I solely pay the whole amount with T-Mo. If my brother comes along for Sprint, he said he would pay $80 a month. So that's about half leaving me about $100 a month.

Am I correct so far with math/theory? Please correct me if there's any mistakes.

Another question. I used google to death trying to find out if any new Android phones are coming out around May2011. Couldn't find anything. Anyone know if there's new phones in the works? It seems Sprint is a little lacking the Android selection dept.

I don't live in a 4G area. Should that influence my decision with Sprint? I don't mind paying the $10 data per phone monthly fee anyways.

Please and thanks in advance.

sprint likely wont bring out their big phones till june or july. and yes, after the 30th of jan ALL new smartphone contracts will have the $10 premium data charge.

My Bro just switched to Sprint (from t-mo) and went with the EVO, he loves the phone and Sprint so far. Sounds like you got it right. $130 (first two lines) - your discount. Then add 20 bucks each for line 3 and 4. Then add 10 dollars per smart phone on the plan. This gets you unlimited data on 3G and 4G, Unlimited texts, and (practically) unlimited voice minutes. Plus all the extras that some company's will charge you extra for, like Sprint TV, Sprint Nav, visual voicemail, etc. Its a really nice plan. Good luck on your choice. you got 30days risk free. :)

OP.. looks like your math is right.. discount only applies to the first 2 lines. NOT on the add-ons.

there are no new phones rumored yet... Feb 7 might shed some light.

BenChase7.. so.. your bro got the EVO.. i though you and him were leaning towards the EPIC or EVO shift.... what made the decision change??

Haha... good memory. He came into town last week and checked out me EVO and said I want THIS. I said let's go to Sprint just to make sure.. see the others in person. Still was in love with the EVO... the great looks, big screen converted him from insisting on a physical KB. He is on the damn thing all the time. I told him I wish we would have waited till the end of your visit to get this cuz its interfering with our little time together. But he's very happy with the EVO and sprint service and price so far.

Ok, I redid my math.

$130 x .23% (employee discount) = $100
$100 + $30 (3 data phone plans) = $130
$130 + $40 (2 additional lines) = $170 total before taxes.

Not bad, not bad. Too bad no awsome phones when I switch over. Or maybe wait until summer to see what's up.

Thanks guys!

no awesome phones?? there are only 3 to choice from... you dont like those 3?

well feb 7.. there will be some huge announcement... not sure what Sprint has up their sleeves.

normally summer is when sprint releases new great phones.
