4G WiFi tether?

i just had a thought.

i have Sprint and an Evo Shift 4G. i dont have access to it now, but when i move this weekend, i may get the tail end of Phillys 4G service.

So i can run Z4 Temproot on my phone and run a tether app. i know that that uses 3G data to turn into a wifi signal. IF i had my 4G radio on would it THEN use that? or still 3G. is there a different app that would handle turning 4G into a wifi signal or is there one that integrates both with an option to switch between the 2?

so i just tested out wifi tether with 4G and am getting horrible speeds with tether. on the phone it works great but with tether my Mac is getting slowwww speeds. is there any app that specifically uses the 4G radio for tether>

Are you using the hotspot WiFi tether, or a USB cable tether? The latter is limited to USB1's max throughput, which is 400 Kb/s.
