because many of us did not wait for the official release from our carriers- we downloaded from samfirmware .com

2.2.1 is way better in that no lagfix is needed. Apart from that its near identical to 2.2

2.2.1 is available for any one in the UK that has an unbranded phone through kies, so this makes it an official update.

Branded phone user are unlucky at the moment and are unlikely to get this update any time soon, as most networks have only just released Froyo 2.2

There a few difference's from 2.2 to 2.2.1 but over all this update has made the phone faster, smoother and it has no lag at all.

Is this 2.2.1 up;date available for the HTC EVO? Vlingo reboots my phone and I really like using Vlingo. They told me I need 2.2.1 and I don't know how to get it. My phone says there is no updates available and I Googled it and ended up here. Thanks,

LOL. According to wiki, yes, 2.2.1. is available on the EVO. Not sure how HTC devices are updated though. My friends' desires are updated OTA, but that might be because they bought the phone from Vodafone.

EVO is updated OTA also but it tells me there are no updates and mine still has 2.2. I just love Vlingo and I use it some but it reboots your phone when using the in car part mostly so I don't use that part. But Vlingo told me the bug was fixed with 2.2.1 which I hope to get soon.

2.2.1 as has been explained has been rolled out but yet again the Networks has made a mess of this. If you purchased your phone in full then you have the fortune to have a unbranded phone the only place in the Uk that does this is car-phone warehouse.
You end up paying more but its worth it
The only problem i have seen is when browsing if you two quick it goes all checked for a phew seconds but that is the stock browser skyfire works fine

Networks are only holding this back because they were told of battery drain problems well we all suffer with that

There are also rummer's that manufactures are charging the networks for the updates.

This is incorrect.
I purchased mine from Amazon and it is unbranded.

Froyo 2.2 was available the moment it was released as was 2.2.1.

I can't understand people slagging off this phone and Samsung's updates when it is their own fault for going for cheap deals from the providers in the first place.
