11:50 PM Kimberly: Thank you so much! How can I help you out today?

11:51 PM Ash Ketchum: I have a question about the restocking fee for mobile phones, does best buy charge a restocking fee?

11:51 PM Kimberly: We only charge a restocking fee on the iPhone.

11:51 PM Ash Ketchum: ok thank you, is it 14 days or 30 days?

11:52 PM Kimberly: Who is the carrier?

11:52 PM Ash Ketchum: Verizon Wireless

11:52 PM Kimberly: You only have 14 day return policy.

11:54 PM Ash Ketchum: Ok thank you. I am in kinda of a weird situation right now. I have an upgrade that I am eligible to use and I have been interested in the HTC droid incredible. However, after doing some research, I found out that this phone might be outdated. Do you know of any new Verizon phone that is going to come out soon?

11:54 PM Ash Ketchum: preferrably by HTC :)

11:54 PM Kimberly: They are going to come out with the HTC thunderbolt.

11:55 PM Ash Ketchum: Is that the first 4G LTE phone that I have been seeing on commericals recently?

11:55 PM Kimberly: Yes that is correct.

11:56 PM Ash Ketchum: Ok. I am interested in that phone, but I'm afraid of the potentially extra 4G costs, do you have any info on that?

11:56 PM Kimberly: I do apologize, but I do not have any information on that.

11:56 PM Ash Ketchum: Also, would you happen to know the release date?

11:56 PM Ash Ketchum: It's not on the commericals and I would like a phone ASAP

11:56 PM Kimberly: They do not have the release date yet on the phone.

11:57 PM Kimberly: I do know that it is soon, but they have not released the date yet.

11:57 PM Ash Ketchum: I have heard rumors about the 28th or the 4th of March, is there some truth in that?

11:57 PM Kimberly: To be honest I do not know.

11:57 PM Ash Ketchum: OK, thank you very much for your help

11:57 PM Kimberly: You are welcome, is there anything else that I can help you with?

11:58 PM Ash Ketchum: nope, that is all

11:58 PM Kimberly: Well thank you so much for spending time with us today. If you have any further questions please
do not hesitate to give us a call at 1-888-BESTBUY or to check us out on the website! You have a wonderful day and thanks again!

haha i find it funny that in the beginning of the chat you act like if you know nothing about the phone but by mid chat you all of a sudden know all these rumors about it.

I notice Verizon's Facebook is getting request all over the place about TB

so is HTC's....

you have to admit, they got balls for not giving into the pressure and announcing something, besides the other day when Verizon tweeted that rude post about nothing to announce lets move on to other topics

BUT In all the posts i've read today, the one we found on Android Central this morning with the training seminar gives us better info that seems to be more legit than any of the blogs it seems

I'm still banking on the date they said, during those seminars they usually say when the device is set to go on sale, and the guy said they were extremely confident its next week. (which also happens to be the first week of March, bleh... where did February go...)

Yeah and if you read deeper into that thread he later states in 2 separate posts that it will be for $249.99 and was told a release date of march 3 or the 4th.

I agree with being a little rude with the "lets move on to other topics"

Then lets stop promoting the phone with all these commercials and then get mad when people want to know things about it.

I went back to the Android Central thread and while he has confirmed that its next week, the event he was at for Verizon Retail reps, which is why it was a private event.

and then i found this one

ncx_Post1.png

then another post later he is corrected by another Verizon sales associate that says thats partially true, they can sell it at a higher price though, they just can't sell it for less than $249.99

then i found this post
ncx_Post2.png

He clarifies that the chipset upgrade he was referring to is that the HTC rep stated to them that the CPU/GPU on one chip is an upgrade from the last generation Snapdragon, this one has a GPU integrated (hence why it got those high benchmark scores in quadrant for FPS in graphic rendering.

I removed a detail that compared it to the EVO of them stating it was thinner, when we all know its not, only a tiny bit thicker than the EVO though as we found out thanks to Wirefly

For taking this long, they better have "upgraded" something!

Desire HD is the same exact phone which is made from the same material, a solid block of aluminum, you can find the details on AT&T"s product page, HTC's and in the press release from CES

Thunderbolt isn't because of its design, it has a removable battery cover whereas the Inspire you have to slide the battery out of a slot

Its unfortunate that the TB is not a unibody phone. I do like the solidity of the unibody design. A device could have both a unibody construction and a removable back cover as well. Just because this one does not doesn't mean it can not be done.

Also despite the marketing description, I doubt the Desire HD and Inspire are truly billet (meaning machined from a single block). The Macbook absolutely is, the iPhone 4 by the way is not (it is forged and then touched up by machining). I strongly suspect the Desire HD/Inspire are actually forged or stamped (again then touched up/finished by machining).

On a related note I've seen the HTC Legend video where they show a phone body actually being machined from billet. Even given that evidence my suspicion is that in real production volumes there is only a small amount of machining and it does not start from a big solid block.

A bit bored with the endless release date speculation but still following along myself....

Evo 4G indeed uses a "1st generation" Snapdragon, the QSD8650. It has the Adreno 200 graphics system.

The TB uses a 2nd gen (basically meaning a much smaller semiconductor manufacturing process which gives is lower power consumption). Its Snapdragon MSM8655 also has an updated Adreno 205 graphics system. Adreno 205 is substantially faster than Adreno 200.

The Desire HD, Desire S, Incredible S and Inspire use an almost identical main chip to the TB.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Inspire

Your post was from the thread yesterday with original pictures of TB, taken by a Verizon employee, at a rep training event who insists the phone is most likely launching on the 4th. Finally a sliver or solid evidence.

Thread.

The TB is a unibody design. The battery door and the screen are the only pieces that aren't a part of the entire phone.

You should be waking up each day one day closer to the release day. Oh wait you are, we just don't know what day that is. ;)

Oh you are also one day closer to death according to Pink Floyd.
