MLB.tv and MLB At Bat 2011 Live Streaming on Android

I don't know what your issue is as I was able to install the app with no issues at all on my Nook Color and that is also not an officially supported Google device.

I live in Boston and I can watch every Red Sox game on NESN (local sports channel). I seriously considered dropping the $120 for mlb.tv but the blackouts are just ridiculous. I wanted it so when I'm out and about and can't watch tv, I could just watch the game on my phone. However, being that I live in Boston, every Red Sox game is blacked out on mlb.tv. I might consider just getting the "Mlb at bat 11" app and just listening to audio. Does anyone know if there's any restrictions on that? Like, do I have to purchase the app ALONG with the gameday audio from mlb.com? Also, I've never had the "at bat" app, but I follow baseball religiously. Is there anything in that app to follow fantasy players (like mlb.tv has)?

I had it last year. There were no blackouts for the audio and you can choose between the home and away announcers - you will get the radio announcers. Sometimes it was fun to listen to the other team's broadcast to hear what they were saying.

In addition to the audio, you can follow the gamecast pitch by pitch. I'm on the road quite a bit, so I found it very useful for following the Sox. Even locally, I found the internet radio broadcast sounded a lot better than the scratchy AM broadcast when I was in my car. (There is a few seconds of lag time though).

this is the exact question i was about to ask. thanks. looks like i will be buying a nook color!

I tried listening to a spring training game yesterday....it was horrible. The audio cuts in and out every 10 seconds and it says reconnecting, and then it makes really loud noises too. Unlistenable! :( I can only hope the video is better but somehow I doubt it.

I can install it fine. It works great...just can't find it in the market

I just went to the web market and pushed it to the NC. I honestly didn't try to look for it on the market.

You must have a bad connection. I listened to an entire game the other day with no problems. I turned it on at work. Then I left for lunch after a few innings and listened to it in the car and then came back to work and finished the game. Didn't cut out at all on me.

I tried again today and got the same problems. I tried with multiple games too...same thing. It SUCKS. You can't listen to it at all, it literally cuts out every 10 seconds or less. Not happy MLB!

Either you device is beat or you live in a area with a crappy ass signal. I used the MLB 2010 app the entire season and I NEVER had a single audio issue ever. It was a godsend for me being a Yankeee fan because I can't stand listening to that ass hat Michael Kay and whatever retarded side kick he happens to have that day. I would much rather listen to the legendary John Sterling and his female counter part than Kay. But that is off topic, no problems ever on my iPhone with 3G or WiFi and I will be buying it again this year and possibly the MLB tv package too since I live closer to Philly than NY and only Phillies games get the black out for me

Am listening right now (EVO 4G, connected to 3G at 2-3 bars) and while it took several seconds to log in and connect, the audio stream hasn't cut out once. It's at least FM quality. There is no local blackout and I have two streams to choose from. Keep in mind this is the first week of spring training, and MLB Advanced Media has usually done a decent job of fixing bugs and improving their products as the season goes on.

I have a brand new Evo 4G im listening on 3G with usually 3 or more bars and it cuts out all the time and makes crazy noises. Its not my phone.. I read a thread somewhere else with tons of people having the same issues. I'm not sure what to do though or who to contact for problems with an app.

It IS your phone. I know because I have one that did the same thing until I applied the streaming fix. If your software number is 3.70.651.1(latest update by Sprint) your streaming is broken. Sprint is supposed to be releasing a fix for this but until then the only way to fix it is to call sprint and tell them that the streaming for Sirius, Rhapsody, etc is not working and you need the update applied. They will place you in contact with advanced tech support and they will push the update to your phone. This takes less than 10mins.

MLB 2011 works great after the fix. Hope this helps.

why would you not be able to watch the yankees if you are in chicago.

Chicago games will be blacked out most likely since you can watch them on TV and mlb cant piss off TV right now.

If you are in chicago you can watch the yankees.

So if I have an MLB.tv premium subscription and the MLB At Bat $15 app you're telling me that I can stream live video because I have a ThunderBolt and not a Droid X or some other supported device????

sucks don't it?

Play on supposedly works with any flash enabled device, but you have to pay for the server use. Its not much, but still annoying and not as nice as a native application. One reason I just went ahead and got the iPad 2...things like this annoy the hell out of me.

It will work just like the app for the iPhone. You buy the $99 or $119 MLB.tv subscription then buy the $15-$20 (or whatever they decide to charge this year) app in the Android market. Then you will be able to watch the games live.

Last year only the iPhone could stream games live through the app on a mobile phone. Android only had audio with video highlights posted during the game and a condensed game afterwards. This year both iOS and Android have the same features.

That's a ridulous amount to pay to watch a baseball game on a 4" screen.

Correct.

Just got an email back from MLB on this same question:

"The Verizon HTC Thunderbolt is one of the Android devices that will be supporting video on the At Bat 2011 application starting opening day"

Not sure why they don't list supported devices on their site...they didn't answer that part of my question :D

Argh. Is anybody using this on a Droid X? I had it installed and working fine, but I did a factory reset, and now it seems to be gone from the market. When I try to install it through MLB.com, I get a message the Droid X is not a supported device.

THIS IS POOR TIMING

EDIT: Okay, the GB market fixer did the trick. Now, if only the video or audio would load...
