Attachments on GMail

Hey, I can't seem to find an answer. I need to download an attachment on gmail. it's and mp3. Can't figure out how.
 
The standard gMail app doesn't download attachments (at least it didn't the last time I checked).

You can either go to the gMail site using a browser where you can download attachments, or use an alternate email program to read gMail. K-9 Mail (free in the Market) will allow you to download gMail attachments.
 
You will need to use the web version or a different mail client as the Gmail application doesn't allow downloads.
 
This is so crazy, you can't do a simple, standard thing on, GOOGLEmail, and a GOOGLE run phone.......I thought google was better than that. Oh well. Thanks for the help guys.
 
Why is it crazy? It's done for security reasons. And it's easy to circumvent the security issues for users who wish to; people have given you several options for accomplishing what you want, most of them take but a minute to implement.

How is it a security feature?

We should be able to download attachments if we choose to do so just like on a PC.
It doesn't block the download of all attachments, just certain types.

How is it not crazy? Saving an attachment is a pretty standard thing to need to do. And what security reasons? Yeah, this song is deadly. It's going to brick it. If you're stupid enough to open an attachment from someone you don't know..You deserve that risk. And yeah, there are ways around it, but my point is, there shouldn't be a NEED to go around it.

But thanks for those who gave me a way around it.

You can download any attachment if you choose to; google has just chosen to not let you do so with gMail but there are plenty of options.

Try downloading a .exe or a .bat or a .vbs file using Outlook. You can't, nor can you send those file types by default. Why? Security reasons. You may not agree with the security reasons, but that's why it was done.

In any case, there are many simple ways around the gMail download problem for those who wish.

I can send exe and bat files with Outlook. I just can't do it using outlook at work because our network filters that out, I can do it at home as long as I disable my firewall.

Gmail allows the mp3 download using the web, just not using the gmail application on the phone.
