Increase font size of calling #

Full disclosure:
There are millions of us semi-old guys who need reading glasses, but have perfect sight for everything else.

We need the ability to use a larger font for the calling number. Its OK if the caller is in the contact list, but if it's not I really want to read the number quickly and decide yes/no on taking the call. Grabbing the readers takes time, and can be sketchy when driving.

Any help greatly appreciated> Andriod v2.1, HTC sense [Incredible]
Thanx.

Hmm...
I've searched quite a bit and come up empty so far. There are apps that substitute fonts, so I'm hoping there's a way to control font size too. Acutally, its only the incoming number display that we need to increase.

If you want to have control the font size of your sms, then download Handcent or Chomp app. You can adjust the font size in both.

Also if you want to adjust the size of the letters on your virtual keyboard, then download Better Keyboard. You can also change to different font packs too.

This works for SMS but what about CONTACTS? This seems like such a critical issue. WHY oh WHY hasn't anybody fixed it yet?

I certainly do not know why. I don't even think any of the 3rd party contacts apps have the ability to change the font size.

See? Its not just me who wants this. There are legions of us, right Momma?

Seriously, its a really minor tweak that makes a really massive imrpovement to the useability of the phone for a lot of people. The real beauty of Android is that there's a decent chance that someone who appreciates the problem will cut a simple app to fix it. That's hacking at its finest.

Lol. You are most certainly correct. With the Android market reaching 50,000+ apps, I don't see why a dev can't create something like this.

Easiest way is to buy an iphone or BB. They both for years have had system wide text
enlargement. People have complained for 2 years about no text enlargement for android
and for 2 years it has fallen on death ears. There in a million totally useless apps for android
yet no-one can make the one that should have been standard. I agree, looking for reading
glasses a hundred times a day is getting old. I made the mistake of not knowing this
and am now stuck with it. Waiting on the iphone 5, then I will make the switch.

You could try "Spare Parts", free from the Market.

This is an app that is included in CyanogenMod and allows changes to:-

Window animations

Transition animations

Fancy input animations

Font size (overall) Extra small >>>> Extremely Large

I'm in the same position. I don't know if you are prepared to root your phone and flash the rom with CyanogenMod but one its (many) brilliant features is the ability to increase the size of the base font across the device. Should be in stock Android IMO

Are you referring to the Spare Parts app that comes with CyanogenMod that I mentioned earlier?

Groupy (android market) now has an option to change the font size of the phone numbers. If you use the initials H for home, M for Mobil, F for Fax, you can make the phone font size even bigger. I don't need my glasses to read it!! By the way, I can also use the groups on my DroidX that I setup in gmail as well. Great App.
I just tested the beta with even larger font sizes. Should be available next week.
