[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

Sorry, but I call this all bunk so far. People (Android Central example) are saying they got calls from stores about the 17th, but the catch is ALL corporate stores use the SAME bulletin system for product updates and the SAME email system. EVERYONE would know now. Just imagine how fast REAL information travels ;)

I have called enough stores and gotten enough "Have seen nothing yet" from them during lunch today, that along with our company rep (knows zip either) to conclude:

One little tweet from one "apparent" store has created a rolling manisfestation that would make the Ghost Hunters proud. Heck, they may be the folks behind all of this........ Hmmmmm...

But how long will that work? Aren't you just delaying the inevitable?

And yes, you could swap carriers, but how long will that work? AT&T and VZW follow each other like hawks. Sprint and TMobile look to be merging and the new combined company will have to keep pace with the other two remaining big carriers to stay competitive.

While I'm a gadget guy and I keep up with technology, at some point, I can't justify the costs associated with it. At that point, I'd go back to a flip a phone (if they still make them) and get a WiFi only tablet, or something, to handle my mobile needs. Smartphones are not a necessity and there are really only a few things - other than making phone calls - that they can do that you can consider important.

Ask yourself this, what do you do with your smartphone? Stalk your Facebook, look up stuff that doesn't need to be looked up... do things just for the sake that you have the ability to do it with your phone... play games to avoid human contact while on the subway... use Google Navigator even though you know exactly where you're going... etc. etc. I'm guilty of doing all that with my phone. But is it really worth the added costs?

And no, I wouldn't switch carriers. I've been on VZW since my first cell phone.

I'm confused:confused: how is that not what I just said?

edit: just realized that sounded very snarky. That was not my intent. sorry if it came across that way.

I did not think you came across that way. :)

I took it as no one could upgrade until 20 months. Could have been the way I read. No biggie. :p

I can do 99% of my job from my phone. My job requires bandwidth, so 4G is a god send. My job function is highly specialized, so I'm often called at all hours to fix something or rig something up.

I'm also working on QR tagging all the devices at work with links back to the necessary documentation for that device (ie design drawings, setting files, contact #'s, etc.).

There's a bunch of other things as well that I'm working on that I'd love to tell you about, but NDA forbids it. Let's just say, if you're using your smartphone as an expensive toy, you're doing it wrong. A smartphone is a powerful device. You just have to think outside of the box on ways to harness that power.

Edit : and I hope you don't think I'm picking on you specifically. I'm not. I'm just puzzled about the "I'm going to stay on 3G" talk. People will only be able to hold out for so long on that before VZW pushes them to upgrade. I forsee a future with VoLTE that "minute plans" disappear and every plan is a data plan. You really won't have the option to have a flip phone ... or at least as they exist today.

I hear ya. Doing the same with QR with inventory and packing.

I just went to www.htcsense.com for kicks. Select your phone says "Load Device Error." Update, maybe?

Yes, I've been checking that regularly as well and have noticed that over the past couple of days it has been on again, off again with "Load Region Error" and "Load Device Error." I don't know what that means, but let's hope it's HTC setting the stage for an add-on!

Is anyone else watching this Realtime thunderbolt thing on google?

All info there seems to be regurgitating the same unconfirmend "info" that not one corporate store I have called has a clue about.

I did get a BB store that said they may get them on the 17th or 21st, but they have no confirmation yet. Perhaps forum fans?

might as well hold out as long as you can and save the money now then right?

Does anyone know who this guy is?

I believe he is just like Miami (tester). I have been following him as long as BMX and Miami. He is trustworthy.

Good news. I believe they did in fact started shipping units this morning.

I feel like at this point I should post something on my twitter account hashtagging HTC Verizon and Thunderbolt saying I saw the shippment arrive at my local VZW store
just so I can sit and watch the sh*tstorm and see how quickly it spreads around the interwebs
I mean, its what all the cool kids are doing to get fame now right? rofl

Take this as you want, not going to debate/defend/prove :D

I went to my VZW Corp store and had a question about my XOOM. As I was leaving, I asked about the Tbolt. He said nothing he has heard, but said he would look. He looked and had an odd look and said hold on and went in back. Came back and said nothing as of yet, but was smiling. Said check back in a few days if you do not hear anything. :D

No worries! If I were able to rely on my phone to get my work done, I'd have no problem with the costs associated with 4G... and to be honest, once the details are actually given, I might change my mind. But I'm on a computer most of the day, so for now 3G is enough for me....... And don't get me wrong I do want this phone. We'll see how it plays out

All I can tell you is that the VZW store in Pflugerville, TX called me this morning and told me they just received an email that the TB would be available for sale on Thursday and that I should come in early because he didn't know how many they were getting and couldn't hold any for me.

I can't see them calling me unless that is true. It's not like he's trying to get me in the door to buy an iPhone or something. Not only that, but he hasn't called me any other week with any rumored dates. He took my name down as a perspective buyer 3 weeks ago and this is the first call I've gotten from him.

Maybe they aren't supposed to be telling people until an official announcement tomorrow and he didn't read that part of the email.

Let's hope for official word from VZW tomorrow. But I'm inclined to believe the guy and I'll be at my VZW when the store opens on Thursday.

Indirects have limited access to what is called infocenter. Thats where new equipment info, policies, etc is posted internally.
