Apps missing from Android Market

Hi all,

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Sand am having trouble finding some very obvious apps in the market - e.g. Angry Birds, Pro Evolution Soccer - i'm wondering what else is missing but haven't done an extensive search. There's plenty of other apps available (e.g. bizarrely Angry Birds Seasons is there) but i'd like to know that i'm looking at all the apps rather than just a selection!

I've downloaded appbrain which finds angry birds in the search but then when I link through to Market it says that the app can't be found. I've tried uninstalling the market and forcing the update and that's not worked either, i've also cleared the cache but still nothing. Does anyone have any ideas?! I bought the phone from eBay so not sure if it's been flashed/rooted.

Firmware is 2.1-update1 (ECLAIR)
Baseband: I90000DXJF4

Thanks in advance,
D

The Market app will only show you those apps that are supposed to run on your phone. Perhaps the missing ones need Froyo? (I'm guessing here.) There have also been cases where developers had trouble getting the Market listings for new apps to appear for all supported phones, but Angry Birds has been out a while so I doubt if that's it.

You can only find applications that you will be able to download for example if you have Android 2.2, then you can't find apps that require 2.3 or above.

Sometimes applications are limited to some countries.

This is my confusion though. Something like Angry Birds should work right back down to v1.6 of the firmware and i'm in the UK so surprised if it's not available in my region. I used to have it on the iPhone.

Someone recently said on here that my Baseband was for Asia - would this be the problem?

Thanks for the replys!

I have an EVO, purchased in Early Februay '11.

I've been downloading apps from the store only.

This morning I went to look for another app on my pc and clicked on "My Market Account" and every app I've downloaded is gone.

I just looked at my device. I went to the Market, click "My apps" and only two apps appear there.

None of the apps I've downloaded have been removed from my phone, I just find it super weird that they are all gone. All the apps I downloaded were free, the majority Google apps.

When I search, on my device, for an app that I know I've downloaded, in the list view it shows "installed".

Has anyone experienced this before? Long term affects?

I've found that sometimes, not always, I can't get access to the Market when I'm on WiFi. I see it's home page, but I can't search or download, or do anything. When, in that situation, I switch off WiFi, and use a phone connection (2G, 3G) I do get access to the Market and can see all the apps fine, and download without any problems.

So you may want to try switching off WiFi and connecting over a phone connection.

I am on 2.2 Froyo.

When I had my Hero I had problems with some of the apps I'd downloaded not showing up under downloads. I had App Brain on my phone so I knew if I went into that app I could see everything & if there were any updates. Eventually they showed back up on their own. Since I upgraded to the Evo I haven't had that problem but I still keep App Brain on my phone.

I'm not sure if you're aware or not but you can send apps from one phone to another via Bluetooth, if you have a file manager on your phone.
