Exchange Question

taf

Lurker
Droid Inredible user. I use Exchange active sync for work email. When I delete mail on my phone, its deleted on the server as well. Is there a way to delete from phone, but not from server so its there when I return to the office.

Unless I am totally misunderstanding you and you are not on an exchange server. Maybe someone has heard of a way to do what you are wanting but, but I am going to say no because that is not how exchange works.
But, when you delete it on your phone it shouldn't be gone. The file should be in your deleted bin of your email. I just verified that is how mine works.

With exchange the email isn't really on your computer or your phone, it's on the server. It's more like cloud computing and you computer and phone are just looking at the email.

Sorry, I can't see an option to delete from phone but leave messages on the server. Using a Desire on 2.2.

@sssteve72, Blackberry with BES can do it, and I'm sure that's not the only combo.The device can delete email locally but leave it on the server. It's up to the manufacturer to code the application to support it though.

@rasobey
Good to know. I just got a HTC EVO 4G and mine keeps my phone and my email on my computer synced exactly the same. It also worked the same way on my Mogul I had before this phone. In fact I was almost paranoid that it wouldnt work that way.

Thanks for the replies. That is how mine works as well.
The one person who told me it could be done had a Blackberry. I guess I'll just have go to my Deleted mail folder.

You can use the touchdown application to sync with the Exchange server ...they a setting option to keep the email on the server when deleted on the phone.
