Help Tasks on 2.2

I've been a user of SystemPanel since I first got my Transform, and theres usually 5 active background apps at most. Now with 2.2 I see at least 12 apps running in the background taking all of my RAM. Anyone got ideas on why every app on my phone is running in the background?
 
Watchdog Lite keeps telling me that The Weather Channel App is running in the background and taking up like 77% of the CPU process. I kill the App via Watchdog Lite and apparently, it keeps running or restarting itself (maybe on reboot?). I never got this alert from Watchdog Lite on 2.1 for The Weather channel, so I'm not sure what's going on here. I just uninstalled The Weather Channel App for now. Very weird, though.

Google apparently coded Froyo so that task killers don't work correctly and that apps instantly re-appear. This is really annoying because I don't like seeing a ton of tasks sitting around doing nothing until I need them. It's like owning Walmart, and having 100 people at work on a Sunday at midnight. You only need like 10-15 people and you waste money. In Android's case, its wasting RAM. I've had 2 freeze ups today from the RAM being strangled. I'm going to start using Titanium Backup's freeze ability once I'm rooted so that Android can't load up the application until I thaw it... Also... We need a ROM from SDX that removed bloatware from Samsung and Sprint (I dare you to see all the bloatware tasks Samsung added in 2.2, it's... It's mind blowing bad.)
 
I'm not rooted. Just a stock user who plays a few basic games and uses a few other apps...basically whatever is free and highly rated! Never had a formal task killer loaded, but heard Watchdog Lite was pretty good at monitoring CPU %. I agree that RAM is being wasted. Getting these alerts about the freaking WEATHER CHANNEL running all the time drives me nuts!
 
I'm going to be experimenting with an autokiller today and Titanium Backup to see if I can keep my battery life and RAM. Ill be making a thread.
 
Thanks, TheAndroid. My battery life has been crap for the week before the update and continues to be crap now.
