Sprint Pricing plans vs. VZW? worth jumping ship?

Lurker
So after getting fed up with Verizon, im off contract and thinking about options. From what I've seen, my family plan, 2 droids, will be cheaper thru Sprint. Saw rumors around this weekened Evolution may have instant.savings with Sprint and wondering if you guys think it would be worth it for me to jump ship. Appreciate any and all help.

can't speak for verizon, but sprints service, price and evo are awesome :-)

there is a 125$ credit when you switch to sprint, port your number and buy a smart phone. I'm not sure if its an instant rebate.

there will also be a couple of new phones in june or july, including the new Evo 3D.

I've been with Sprint for about 8 years. I recently considered changing to Verizon due to signal coverage in my neighborhood. Went and tried to talk to Verizon store. They were such jerks I swore I'd use two cans with a string stretched between them as a phone before I ever set foot in a verizon place again. Sprint, on the other hand, was amazing. They helped us set up a great family plan, have demonstrated consistently excellent service after the sale, etc. We couldn't be happier with Sprint. This is of course just my experience - can't speak for anyone else.

I would recommend it, especially now that you can get $125 per line you port. (just remember to fill out the online application within 72 hours of porting your number(s)). I got the deal when my bro switched from t-mo to Sprint a few months ago, hes been happy with Sprint too. I have traveled more than most and my Sprint coverage has always been good. We got the Everything Data 450, which is virtually unlimited everything and our bill with my employer discount, AFTER all taxes, fees and insurance on both phones is $143.72. :)

The 125 dollar credit(s) are per line, and show up on your Sprint bill as a "valued customer credit" 61 days after porting the number(s). You have to go here: www.sprint.com/switchtosprint w/ in 72 hrs of porting and apply. The whole deal ends 4/16 (i think).

I've been super happy with Sprint personally, and I've had Verizon, AT&T and Cingular before. I'd go for it dude, especially with that 125 dollar credit thingy going on.

I would say yes i came from alltell/VZW rigth after there buyout and AT&T to sprint after being sick of paying AT&T 180.00+ a month for one line with data and texting and only 900 mins. and bad service from VZW after they bought alltell to having great service and only paying 147.00 a month for 2 lines with the everything data 1500 family plan on sprint and i would bet you would like sprint to.

I have been with Sprint for about 10 years and have recently thought about switching to Verizon simply because their data coverage is better where I live. I went and talked to Verizon and to get a comparable plan it would be about $90 more a month. The answer from Verizon was "well we have a better network so we can charge what we want". I agree their network is better.....but it's not $90 a month better.

I have never had any issues with Sprint, they have always been great to deal with....i just wish the data was better where I live.

We priced Verizon last week or so and we are looking at almost $40 extra a month for the same plan we have with Sprint.

I'm on Sprint. Sorry if there was a confusion. I only get a small like $10 discount from my employer on Sprint.

I wonder if I could add a Thunderbolt to my parents plan and then add in my employee discount and not have to pay all that much. Hmmm...

Verizon's coverage in my area is better than Sprint's, sort of the Lexus of cell phone companies. But I prefer Toyota. Sprint is a much better value.

Something smells fishy about the sprint $125 credit for switching. They already have lower prices and added in a $10 fee for every smart phone.

I dunno, they have done similar things in the past. The old deal was when you signed someone up, you (the reference) would get a 50$ visa gift card, and the person you referred would also get a 50$ gift card. Same difference as what they are doing now, really.

Your analogy contains a flaw: Toyota owns Lexus.

Maybe Verizon could be the BMW of cell phone companies? Or Acura (overpriced)? :)

Remember you can roam on VZW for free....from Sprint. I have an app on my Optimus S to let me pick whether to force roaming in bad signal areas.

inflation raises cost
4G implementation raises cost
these 2 things affect all carriers.. they will all need to recoup cost and make profits.

sprint was first to do 4G, so was first to do something to recoup with $10 fee. and the savings difference got smaller.

tmobile will have to do something to raise plans, but just got bought out by att.. so, there will be some changes soon.

verizon has 4G sarted.. and soon will raise their fees.

att is starting their 4G.. and will soon raise their fees.

and then the sprint savings will show a bigger benefit to users like it has in the past.

all that sounds about right. I think I've herd VZW is going to tierd data this summer. Have you heard this?? I guess it might be good for some, but probably bad for many. I'm a big fan of unlimited data.

I'm finding out that I don't really need unlimited data. I thought I did, but I mostly surf the web, check email, and IM. Now if my 4g signal actually made it to my desk as work then maybe I'd stream some video, but as it stands right now I can't even get up to 100mb.

According to the 4g map I should be in a 4g area. Anyone know if there is a way to report a dead zone?
