Xperia X10 Video conversion

Hi guys,
im new here and i got a question:
Recently i bought an Xperia X10, and yeserday i purchased a movie on itunes, as an mpeg4 file, now i have this problem:
I must convert it to a file that suits for the android phone.
Do you know one, free version?
Thanx
M

Most likely you don't have to convert it. If you cannot play it on X10's video player, then download Vplayer from Market and play the video on it. Vplayer is an all-round video player application that can handle many formats.

and yeserday i purchased a movie on itunes

There's your problem. Anything purchased from Itunes has DRM built into the file. Which means you will NEVER be able to play that file outside of ipod/itunes/iphone.

If you want to convert it, you will need to convert it to an h264 baseline codec, with an mp4 container. We can't tell you how to strip the DRM, because its not legal. You will have to find that out on your own if you want to.

Do they still use that DRM crap on iTunes media?
Good thing I never use that software...

He mentioned he bought the videos from itunes, to which I replied, all video purchased from itunes have drm, if you would have read the entire 4 posts in the thread.

sry but i didn't read ur conversation...:)

Not to "leech" off this topic, but I'll be getting my first Android phone today, and I have several videos I wanted to put on there. Thing is, I've always been an iPod user, so they're all formatted for my iPod Touch (I believe the file type is .m4v, which I don't believe Android supports, right?). I'm trying to find a free converter to change them over.

I did try a free program called Hamster Video, and it seemed like a nice, easy to use program (even had an output option specifically for HTC phones, which is what I'm getting), but the conversion ended up being pretty spotty... Only a couple of videos converted all the way through. For the rest, it only created a converted file that was only half of the original video, and there were also one or two videos it wouldn't convert at all (despite the fact that all these videos were formatted the exact same way, and play just fine on my iPod and on my computer).

Is there any free converter out there I can use? Better yet, are there any apps on Android that support the .m4v video, so I don't have to convert them?

There is no need for conversion. If your videos are not copyright protected, then just rename the file extensions from m4v to mp4 and play on an Android phone. Try either the default player or some other player like RockPlayer or Vital Player.

How about converting the file to 3gp format? will that work?
Sure, but a conversion remains the same, regardless of the video container you select - 3GP or MP4.
The best is to try to avoid the conversion - it is waste of time and video quality.
