how many replacements till a new phone?

Hard to say. Maybe never. You have an Epic, maybe it would be best to ask in the Epic forum if anyone has any similar problems as you, and what they did to get them straightened out?

While Samsung makes really great phones, there is a long list of people who would never buy another simply for the fact that they have no support.

Good luck dude, I hope you can get whatever your problem is worked out.

Check with the BBB. Many states have lemon laws that apply to most if not all consumer electronics. I know Kansas for example you can demand a different product of equal value or your money back when you return the "lemon" the third time.

Don't think they're going to give you today's hot phone for your last year's junk though! Won't happen! You'll get whatever else is still on the market from last year.

USUALLY after 3 they will let you choose a phone off the well list so most likely they will get you a shift or an evo(downgrades in my book)

I'm waiting for my replacement phone to come right now, already had internals swapped once in my current device (they put it in as a replacement then cause it has new serial numbers etc), then provisioning errors, 2 hard resets, multitude of things not working, now it randomly reboots, vibrates locks etc. posted in the epic forum and the main advice was to root when I get the new (refurb). Hopefully the new one just won't have these issues but honestly I'm not holding my breath. if the new one does have issues out of the box I would like to get an evo instead and just walk away from the epic altogether...

I know everyone says root root root, but it really and truly will cure a lot of ills with the stock software. The devs (guys who make the roms) are really dedicated to what they do, and are better than the carriers and manufacturers at making them work the way they should. So I would also recommend rooting, if you feel up to the task (it really is easy.) Again, GL, and let us know how you make out.
