I'd like to make my android phone a hotspot...

Lifeline

Lurker
which I already can with the built in "Wi-Fi Hotspot" application, which is great!

Now, thing is, I don't have free surf. Thus it's really expensive for me to use my phone as a hotspot.

Now, what I'd like to to, is to stay connected to my wireless access point at my home, and host a hotspot through it - thus not hosting through the mobile internet-thingy. In other words, use the hotspot application but instead of using 3G internet I'd like to use the internet connection I have at home.

Is there an application for this, or is it possible in any way?

Sorry for my english by the way, it's not my mother language.

No, here's the deal:
I want to connect with my Nintendo DS to my android, but I can only do that if I make it a hotspot first. But the application makes the hotspot through 3g-connection only as far as I know. I'd like to make my phone a hotspot, but instead of being connected to the internet through 3g-connection I'd like it to connect to the internet via my wireless router.

It's kinda hard to explain...

So you basically just need\want your phone to be the middle-man?
Why can't you just connect your DS directly to the WiFi source?

Exactly!
I can't connect my DS to my AP because the DS only supports WEP(and something else) and we'd rather not change the security on the AP to WEP as it's really really easy to crack. We've changed it a few times but whenever we do, our printer messes up badly for some reason, so I'd rather not.

I looked at the same idea when I had a (jailbroken) iPhone. Don't think you can do it. Maybe because the WiFi can't be both "in" and "out"? (OK, stupid non-tech expression, but I can't do better right now ...)

If your phone is using wifi to connect, and acting as a WiFi AP, it should route the traffic through whatever connection it's using.

What phone are you using? This might be a source of problems if you cant seem to get it working.

My brother said something like that, but I doubted it...

Using a HTC Desire, but the in-built wi-fi hotspot application clearly states that it hosts one through the 3g internet. I also tried checking how much money I had left before hosting a hotspot, then I hosted one, and checked again afterwards and it said that quite a bunch of money was used anyway(again, sorry for my crappy language).

I don't think that you can use your phone as a Wi-Fi bridge because the single Wi-Fi radio chip can't act as both a station and an AP. Heck, buy a cheap Wi-Fi router for $15!
