gingerbread 2.3.3 now available for galaxy ace

better UI, more faster, but the problem is i still dont know how to root this...

any idea how?

Great to hear that....

However, could this be a beta version since Gingerbread for Galaxy S has also had some issues and they have stopped the update temporarily...??:confused:

As per the comments in the original site who posted the update, some users have following issues:

1. No auto-focus on camera. Only macro.
2. Wifi Doesn't work.
3. No root as of now. Superoneclick doesn't work.

Does anyone in here noticed such problems...? If so, this might just be a beta, not the final :confused::confused:

I found a great review of the new update in below link(Includes screen shots)...

Your ARABIC Samsung Ace FroYo???

HEY! I thought this device does not support Arabic? Did you install it yourself or did you buy it like that?

If it can support Arabic, pleae help me, I'm trying to support Arabic on my Ace bought in the UK.

Also, if Wifi doesn't work on gingerbread then you really need to wait for an update before you flash to that.

PS: I saw on samfirmware.com that they have a FW for Arabic ACE, but there are all kinds of numbers and CSC's and stuff (what does that stand for) and the CSC of my device, on Samfirmware's verification tool, does not show Arabic in the resutls.

Can I have Arabic or should I return my phone before I run out of time and lose the 7-day return period, probably tomorrow?

fanks.

Yes, but I heard that Samsung Galaxy ACE (or maybe all of the Galaxies) cannot be Arabized on FroYo.

Well, this is good to know. Maybe there is hope for my Samsung. Do you think the manufacturer implements hardware signatures (maybe in a separate NaND memory, or BIOS?) to prevent installing one region's firmware on anothers?

I'm thinking maybe if I install your firmware's ROM on my hardware? Those CSC numbers are scaring me. They are telling me not to try. :(

Hi,

I recently bought my mobile (a week back), i got the mobile with 2.2.1 and now i upgraded to gingerbread. There is auto focus option available with this, and i guess my 1 week experiance is not sufficient to judge the efficiency of the upgraded versoin. UI is changed a bit.. nothing much..

I've updated to Gingerbread 2.3.3 (from FoYo 2.2.1). I see absolutely no difference, except for the home wallpaper.

There is auto-focus.
Wifi-works. I do not find a place to enter proxy-settings anymore, though. They've removed it altogether (from Wifi Connections's advanced settings).

If you haven't updated to 2.3.3 yes and you're reading this to know whether you should: DON'T! (refer to the date of this post).

The update does not allow you to easily go back to 2.2.1, where you can ROOT and install and edit whatever you want. Since there is no root for 2.3.3 yet, you'll be stuck with default ROM (which in my case does not enable me to connect to my university's wifi because I need proxy settings for that, and Android does not normally allow you to use that, and even when they did in FroYo, it only affected the browser and not any other app, not even Market. So I'm stuck with a default ROM, LITERALLY. Can't even connect to the net unless I somehow find a way to revert back to 2.2.1 safely and successfully.)

I've done the reverting. Refer back to this link for more information on my experience and comparison between Gingerbread and FroYo.
