Do Nintendo overcharge?

Interesting ... but I have a 16 month old PS3 that I intend to keep for 44 more... the Wii 2 will be barely more powerful, and will fail on the OS side judging by history

The 3DS was a big disappointment, the screen Res, processor, OS... and overpriced as usual

I hope they make something I want to buy
 
I feel Nintendo has turned from superb games (NES,SNES,N64) to innovation. Motion controls for the Wii and 3D for the 3DS. And again for this "Wii 2". A touch screen on the controller? Another gaming gimmick. This sounds nerdy, but any true gamer just wants a solid console, normal controller, and good games and we're happy. We don't need this nonsense Nintendo is throwing at us.

A majority of Wii games I feel are only fun if you have friends over. There's a few like Galaxy that are fun on your own and such, but most are party games.

The Wii 2 may be more powerful than the current XBox and Playstation. However, the Wii 2 will initiate the next generation. I'm almost positive the new XBox (720?) and Playstation 4 will stomp the Wii 2 into the ground hardware wise just as the Wii 1 vs 360 and PS3.

Not sure where you're getting barely more powerful than a PS3. Everything I've read has said "significantly more powerful".

Regardless, Zelda in 1080p is reason enough for me to buy whatever the Big N names the system.

While I agree with everything you said, I feel like I am a true gamer and I absolutely loved the VMU on the Dreamcast. Selecting my plays in NFL2K on the dl was great. I always hope something like that will make a reappearance, but I highly doubt Nintendo will get it right or have the right games.

All gaming consoles prior to the current gen ones only output standard def. So does that mean that the dreamcast wasn't more powerful than the NES since both outputs were standard def? Back in the 90s I could have said the video output was 70's or 80's tech, right?

HD is the current standard, and aside from 3D HD there isn't really anything on the horizon. The PS3 and XBOX may have had it at launch, but there still isn't really anything better, so of course we aren't going to see the next nintendo console trump them in those regards.

Not in output sure, but in power
The question is if Nintendo will release a console unfit for its generations games again
 
I think it more comes down to game loyalty. Nintendo has Mario, Metroid, Zelda. Many people will buy for those reasons. Where as Xbox has halo, and Gears and there are many people that will buy future systems just to play those games. Then you have the PS3 a very powerful system but many people bought it because it could play blu-ray disks and people said might as well get it because I will have to buy a blu-ray player sooner or later and cheaper (during the time) to buy the PS3 than a different game system and blu-ray player separate.

Many of your games are multi console so So really buying the best system isnt the point. I bought my 360 because of gears and halo. I could of bought a PS3 but why when the other games like mass effect and fallout are made for other systems as well. So I had no need for the PS3.

so for many its becoming more about a specific game than about a specific system. Sure they can put all the bells and whistles on a system but like Nintendo what sells their systems? Mario and Zelda.
 
^Thats how I did when the Sega consoles and Nintendo console were the only systems around. Madden on Sega consoles played and looked alot better than on Nintendo's back then. Tecmo Bowl didnt come to Sega consoles until years later.

For some like me it was about a specific game way back then.

I have a Wii mainly for the exclusives. There are a few surprise gems I didnt expect. (one was some shadow game, cant remember the name)

With the PS3 and the 360 having motion controls now, the Wii's main claim to fame isnt gonna be so magical now. They need to compete on the same level as far as graphics now. Microsoft one upped them with the Kinect. I'm surprised Sony didnt do this first, they had the Eye Toy for the PS3. And it makes you wonder why they are doing motion controllers anyway.

But I largely agree with you. I enjoy having the 260 in the bedroom and the PS3 in the living room. I can stream to either TV, watch Netflix, and if there is that odd game that is console exclusive, well, I don't have to miss out on that either.

I will say it is quite ridiculous to be required to pay for XBOX live to use the Netflix service though...
 
^^I wasnt feeling the Wii U big ass controller until I saw a clip of ways it can be used.

I am more intrigued now...

I just wish they'd (Nintendo) give us a "regular" controller as well. At what point was it decided that a classic style controller isn't good enough? The reason I bought a Wii was because the controller was unique. The reason I don't play the Wii is because said controller doesn't very well lend itself to non party games.
