How can I export my gmail emails from phone only?

Hi all...

I accidentally deleted my INBOX on my Gmail account, but not on the phone, and haven't synced it since.

I need to restore those emails, but there's no way to do a 1-way push of the emails on my phone to my GMail account. I'm sure once I sync, it'll delete them all on the phone, too.

Does anyone know of some way to restore these emails, either by exporting to a file or some way of doing a "push" update to Gmail? I can't find any way of doing it after quite a bit of searching online.

Question/Observation. How in the world were you able to delete your inbox?

Even if you deleted your inbox, all the emails should still be in the "all mail" folder online. You should still have access to the emails.

Have you checked your delete folder?

1. I deleted all the emails IN my INBOX

2. I deleted all the emails in my Trash folder

Thus - permanently deleted. No chance of recovery. Working to quickly on my part.

Have you looked in the all mail folder? Every email sent or received, whether they are deleted or not, should be in that folder. Exception - if you have some filter, mot directing messages to that folder.

Yup, looked in All Mail. I believe All Mail is just an unfiltered view on existing emails. When I placed conversations that were in the INBOX into the Trash, then emptied the Trash, they no longer existed, filtered or not.

'tis gone forevah. :-(

If they are still on your phone, including the body of the message and not just the text, you could always forward them to a different email account. Just remember to keep auto sync off and not to refresh the inbox.

Forwarding 40 "conversations" using the gmail android app is painful - but this was what I was going to do. Unfortunately, I was experimenting and clicked on the "All Mail" Label in the android app, and that triggered a sync, which deleted everything in my INBOX on the phone, too.

So the point is now moot. :-(

I'm going to use an IMAP client on Android for Gmail from now on and not use the Gmail app, so that I can control syncing as I please.

Forwarding 40 "conversations" using the gmail android app is painful - but this was what I was going to do. Unfortunately, I was experimenting and clicked on the "All Mail" Label in the android app, and that triggered a sync, which deleted everything in my INBOX on the phone, too.

So the point is now moot. :-(

Maybe you should turn on the "confirm actions" feature. In addition you currently have the power to control gmail syncing. If you don't want gmail to sync, uncheck that option in the accounts (for that gmail account) in the sync settings menu.

Or you can turn off all background and auto syncing.

Actually, Auto-Sync is off, and Sync is off for ALL accounts, but clicking on a Label in he Gmail android app still triggers a sync.

Background Data is on, although that shouldn't control whether it syncs or not, just whether it does it's job in the background, correct?

Have you ever tried turning off all syncing in the manner I describe, and then clicked on a folder/label other than INBOX, and found it syncs your INBOX? That's what it's doing for me.
