Help How to Upgrade Froyo on U.K. Base I5800 Apollo?

Hi

I have Samsung galaxy Apollo I5800 brought from Carphonewherehouse U.K. last month. Its a Unlock phone. I want to upgrade to Froyo (2.2) but in kies still showing the old version after latest kies update.

Current Phone info as below.

Firmware Version 2.1-Update 1

baseband version I5800XXJG3

kernel Version 2.6.29
root@SE-5608 32

build No
ECLAIR.XXJG7

PDA:JG7 /PHONE:JG3/CSC:JG5(XEU)

I have updated the Kies to latest version : 2.0.0.11044_11.

After connecting Phone to P.C. by USB Kies still showing the same version as below..

current firmware version: PDA:JG7 /PHONE:JG3/CSC:JG5(XEU)

latest firmware version: PDA:JG7 /PHONE:JG3/CSC:JG5(XEU)

Can anybody tell me how to upgrade to Froyo (2.2) via kies in UK version?

Thanks

Susheel

Froyo has only been released for the orange branded i5801 in the uk on kies, i have an i5800 on orange p.a.y.g (bought from the carphone warehouse in Feb) and so far no update.

I also have an Orange PAYG i5800 (though it has never had an Orange SIM in it), and no update is available (same firmware as the OP). Strange that the (presumably) carrier specific version is available before the vanilla version.

BTW Susheeltyagi, how did you get on with the update? When I tried to update to Kies 2.0.0.11044_11, I had lots of problems. First it came up in a language that I didn't recognise (perhaps, Chinese - certainly some script I didn't recognise). Then when I managed to switch it back to English, I plugged in my phone and it told me to reboot (it didn't make it clear whether to reboot the device or the computer, so I reboot both). Then when I plugged my phone in, it told me that my phone is not supported by Kies 2.0 (though it works fine in 2.0.0.11014_49). In the end I had to uninstall it and revert to an earlier version. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium if that makes a difference.

Hi Steogade,

I have upgraded the Kies without connecting the mobile to computer. in that case also its took 3 - 4 times connection error have occured. then i have closed all apps like firefox, Skype etc. Then Its upgrade sucessfully in 20 min. After that I have connected the Mobile. But for UK basic version no 2.2 Froyo firmware available.
I have windows 7.0 Proffesional.

Today I went to carphonewhere house they are also waiting for new version. Samsun not roll out till now in UK.

Regards

susheel
