EVO 3D preorder at best buy now (in store only)

I think I'll wait and get it from Sprint. I have an oddball update that they gave me for complaining about the new Premiere system, plus I need to arrange an employer discount type deal.
 
Also, did you go through a Sprint corporate store, or a 3rd party retailer? in my experiences, 3rd party retailers have crap for service, but the Sprint corporate stores have been outstanding.

Really? I'm gonna have to go check that out around here. =] Much more comfortable getting my phone through Sprint than BB-- especially since I'm switching service just for this guy.
 
Hi im new to this community..
I also preorder from BB in may 2nd and i was the first in my local BB also, but its going to be my first time with BB because i been a sprint customer for 5 years and i been without a contract since august 2010 waiting for a good phone to sign contract again, but my question is, Will BB give me the discounts that sprint is offering me? if not any of you guys know what to do if i dont want the preorder anymore? i know that i have to ask this to BB but just wondering if any of you ever had to cancel a preorder before.. :confused:
 
Should be no issue in picking up on launch day. Unlike last year, there is much more competition in the high end phones (e.g. S II, Sensation, G2X, Bionic, LG 3D) with 4G capabilities.

I'm just debating whether to unload my Evo 4G on eBay now. I am afraid if I wait a month or two everyone else will be selling as well to get new phones.

If you are speaking of the contract renewal pricing, then yes, BestBuy will be able to give you the discounted price on the phone.

well actually the renewal pricing and other offers that sprint is offering me like a month off and accesories discount.. and i dont think BB can give me what the store is offering me.. but if BB have access to the sprint data base i think it should be no problem.. isnt?:confused:
 
I pre-ordered mine at Best Buy last week, a day after it was announced they would start taking secret pre-orders. There are a few advantages to pre-ordering rather then just waiting for the phone to be released. First and foremost, when you pre-order, depending where you are on the list (I am #1 on the list at my local Best Buy), you are guaranteed to get an Evo3D. Judging by how the original Evo4G was sold out with every shipment for well over 6 months, pre-ordering may very well be the only way to get the phone without waiting for several months.

When you pre-order from BB, you spend $50, and you get a $50 gift card to use on that phone, or any thing else at the store. So if the device comes out and you decide after playing with the demo you don't like it, you don't need to buy it. But if you do decide you want it, you at least have one reserved for you.

A major plus about buying from Best Buy is not only will they match anyone's price, they also give you any rebates instantly (Sprint is doing this also for a limited time), and if you decide to return the device to Best Buy within the 30 days you don't have to pay ANY restocking fee.

Sprint charges a $35 restocking fee for any returns, and isn't as easy to work with in terms of price matching a competitors best advertised price.

Currently BB's out of contract Thunderbolt's price is $699, however the out of contract price through Verizon is 549. So, are you saying that BB would match Verizon's price of 549?

Based on the TB price gouge, I think BB's out of contract price for the EVO will be higher than Sprints. Sprint says I qualify for a $75 discount (just bought EVO last spring) So, I suspect with BB it would only be 75 off the price gouge, Whereas Sprints full price would already be around 100+ less than BB...

According to my girlfriend (co-manager at the local BB), they will pricematch the off contract price.

Some conditions:
1. The Sprint store needs to be local, and they need to have the product in stock at the time of the price match. (officially, anyway - if a ton of people do this on launch day, they will likely start attempting to check stock of the phones at the local sprint.)
2. Once you apply Sprint discounts, it is no longer an off contract price that they are matching. If Sprint is giving you $75 towards a new phone, and if the new phone at BB is $699 off contract, you will be sold the phone for $699-$75. - they may give it to you price matched at $450 (if that is the sprint price) minus the $75, but they aren't officially supposed to.
 
I called my sprint store and dude said they weren't takikng preorders. Whatever. I went to best buy and placed my preorder with them :D

Is anyone thinking about doing the BB buyback? for $60 you get half the retail price when you trade it in! I'm eligible for an upgrade every year!:D So if I pay and extra $60 now next year I can get $300 toward the purchase of my new phone! (if retail on 3d is 599, it could be 600 which would make my buy back be worth 350!)

I fully agree and the sad part is everyone that's "pre-ordering" think they will be guaranteed to get a phone on release day. There were a lot of people who pre-ordered through BB and RS that got the shaft last year when the evo came out and ended up not getting their phone until july. The only thing a pre-order guarantees is that you will be parting ways with your $50 with nothing else to show for it. You are better off just walking in to any sprint store that day and picking it up.

Edit: Like my grandmother use to tell me when I was a little boy "A promise is a comfort to a fool"

No, I wouldn't deem it as an obligation to provide me with the product. But since they setup the actual wait list in their system and it generated a confirm number, I believe they will comply with holding the product aside for the customer for say - 24 hours or so. While there's no legal obligation to give the product to me rather than first come first serve (as the 50 gift card was the actual sale at the transaction time) I don't believe they want to piss off current customers. It's a matter of goodwill . However I could be wrong about this and may be a good thing I actually have a backup "confirm" as I might need it. Even then I could totally miss scoring one on launch day if neither retailer followed through.

Wasn't the BB failure last year due to the fact that they did not receive as many handsets as anticipated and those further down on the list lost out? Or was it just random and BB totally sold handsets on a first come first serve basis?
