2.1 upgrade

What are you guys doing to take your mind off the release? I'm sure most of us have figured anxiety won't make it come any faster, so what takes your mind off of it and from waking up every morning, hoping to see the update waiting on your phone for 2.1?

Ummm... Let's see, go to work, do that all day, come home, take care of my kids, do some other non-phone-related recreation or physical activities...
Don't spend too much time really worried about an upgrade for my telephone. You really do?

Exactly ... Its a phone people, not your life (well, I hope not anyway).

we make posts like this, and it seems strange to most to be so obsessed, but this is nothing. coming from posting at crackberry over the years and being a crack head myself you wonder if some of those people actually leave their house at all. they have threads for waiting on OS's, when an OS drops you get posts like

OS WAS RELEASED!
OMG I AM AT THE DOWNLOAD SITE!
I AM DOWNLOADING NOW!
OMG IT IS SLOW, IM AT 50%!
DOWNLOAD FAILED!!! FML!!!
WHERE'S THE MIRROR LINK!!! I NEED IT!!
OK I GOT IT, INSTALLING ON PHONE!!

OMG DONE, REBOOTING NOW!
IT IS THE JESUS OS, NO PROBLEMS, MAN IT'S FAST!!!

claps for caddy!

but seriously, enjoy the device you have!

2.X for the eris could come out tomorrow, or in a year, we will never know. Is it really worth getting worked up about your phone waiting for this update?

just think of the the update day as a second christmas. If you are a good boy, you wont get a lump of coal in your eris!

It would be really mean and funny to start a post saying that 2.1 is released. Even more funny to post a link to a site that gets a no page found error.

How do you?

Just coming from experience with android phones. these things don't happen over night. Also, we dont have the snappiest of phones so I'm guessing based on benchmarks we are near the bottom. We should experience more of the same experience, lag and non working apps.

I disagree completely. This phone has only been out since November and we've already seen two updates. Lag? Performance can be increased via software updates which means 2.1 can very well make this phone fly.

Are there really people out there that have so little going on in their lives that this is an issue? Seriously, I don't understand the question because, with a full time+ job, a 1 year old, a marriage, softball, and 5k/10k training, I sure don't have that problem.

@ Caddy Man - Good one!!! ROTFLOL
He's the man. Right on as usual but unfortunately I've already given him so much rep I have to wait now.

Do we even know when 2.x is supposed to be out for the Eris? I know they say Q1... but that could be April 1st at the latest... blah!

The last I read from HTC, it was "real soon". There's no date there but I find it hard to believe that it will be April with "real soon". But if it is, there is nothing anyone can do so just enjoy what you have.

i am a phone nerd for sure, no doubt, but that occupies a small percentage of my time in the gran scheme of things.

Oh wow. Jumping down throats today, are we? I just asked. Take a count at how many threads and posts there are relating to 2.1 and you'll see a lot of people love their phones that much. There's nothing wrong with that.

When your YouTube apps stop working, it seems the whole board is getting violated with an iron rod and law suits are being formulated.

Relax. It's just a phone forum. It's not real life. Don't take it so seriously. I won't fix your keyboard lag and it won't unlock your phone when it the lock screen freezes.

And not all of us here have jobs, spouses and kids.

After 2 updates I still see lag and your right about updates fixing issues but do we really need to start over with something barely optimized for our slow phones?

While I am definitely looking forward to what 2.x has to offer, I am not losing any sleep over it.

Maybe it's because I am in the "It's just a phone" camp (a really cool phone with a lot of neat toys), I really haven't noticed any lag.

The apps open as fast as I would expect them to on a tiny little device. It actually loads quicker than my HP Mini.

The keyboard reacts quicker than I can type on it.

The GPS can take a little bit to sych up, but it's Winter in Minnesota. I ain't outside much right now.

The fetures listed in the article seemed like stuff that Sense UI already takes care of.

The onlhy real problem I have so far, and I'm not sure it's even an OS issue, is the time it takes for the phone to tell me I have a call. I have sat side by side with friends/family, had them call me, and listened to it ring 2 or 3 times minimum before my phone rings. THAT lag does bother me a bit, because it is a phone. It's nice that I can check facebook, run away from Zombies, rearrage gemstones, etc... But, if my phone doesn;t want to tell me I'm getting a call, I might just as well stuck with my Razr/Ipod combo.

In all reality, though, even that lag isn't enough to turn me off on the phone. I'm more than enough of a geek to enjoy playing with all the apps. And, if whoever is calling me can't wait 2 or 3 extra rings to talk to me, I didn't want to talk to them either...
