Night Owls Club-grab some coffee

I have recently been going to sleep at 6 in the morning and I decided that I should get up earlier. In the past, when I had something similar to do, I went to bed a tad earlier every day and I put an alarm to get up earlier too. It worked, but it was long and not so fun since I'd be sleepy every morning.

After a quick Google search, I decided to stay up for the whole night without eating anything, have breakfast tomorrow morning and then (hopefully) go to bed only in the evening, but much earlier than I used to.

I hope I don't get too hungry or too tired. I decided not to eat to simulate a "night", so that my breakfast would be the start of a new circadian cycle. I read a few things about that online, I wanted to test it out.

I was wondering if you guys had any experiences to share or any general tips. :)

I have pretty bad sleeping habbits too (4:30AM here). Just about to turn in early ;)

I've heard the food trick before, where you're supposed to not eat for 12 hours before your desired morning, although I've never tried it. I believe it works because your body wants you to sleep when no food is available and wake up when it is. Apparently its also a good way to avoid jetlag and switch your body clock in one go - I saw it on TV and it seemed to work pretty well for the guy who did it.

I'd be interested to hear if you have any luck with it :)

Hello again. Tonight is going to be a Night Owl night for me. It is 11pm here in the Midwest and I am trying to stay up until 4am or so. I need to get back on my sleeping schedule because I work Monday night at 8. So I have a pot of coffee, some Irish cream, and some games to play.

I hooked up my other monitor so now I can have the forums open on one while I play. It is too many awesome :P I'll be reinstalling LoL here so I'll check in with you folks later. Whats the news with the rest of the Night Owl group?

Just thinking about a big bowl of ice cream myself :) Had a great day with the family and actually got in the pool for a bit. It was way cold.. but hey.. it's tradition to get wet this weekend. I should be going to bed. I have some work to do tomorrow but... dang it's tough to get back into the early sleep mode after being off a couple of days. If I'm ever off an entire week.. I find I stay up an hour later every night until it's near daylight on the last day when I get sleepy. Makes it difficult to readjust when I return to work.

I definatly feel you on the sleep adjusting. We do what we must though:P

did i miss something??? yes, yes i did....
holiday weekends.... do they really exist... i worked yesterday... today off... wife works tomorrow... yeah, ok, so we both have just 2 days off this weekend... and spent only 1 full day together... a holiday "3" day weekend... geeeze... maybe next time... "yeah, right"

I don't work nights. I'm just a college student with poor sleeping habits. I usually go to bed around 2 and wake up with the sun to go do my research. I'm researching coffee this summer actually :D

What kind of work do you do that they wont give you Memorial Day off?

Well I've had a 4 day weekend (unless you count the three hours I worked yesterday)....but so far it's been rather enjoyable, saw the Hangover 2 twice, (once with the boys, once with the girl) and then had a cook out at church, have another at my friends house tomorrow....then back to the grind, at least it's a short week.

Being awake through the night is just not natural, unfortunately, its easyer for some rather than others, if you do it long enough you just get used to it, and find a way. Ive been doing nights for 13 years on one shift patern or another, i think my body clock has officially 'given up' and just takes what i give it. Much to the annoyance of the mrs

what do you do on your holiday off??? any place you go.. will have employees working... :)

I usually go to the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery and plant US Flags or put flowers on the grave sites, and then spend it with friends and/or family.

OK... No one works around you... Hotel? Gas? Restaurant? Where you get the flowers? Etc...

Well you said what do you do on your holiday off...I told you what I usually do :p....I already said retail stores to go along with the other comments by the folks....what the hell you looking for? I know why some people have to work holidays....it's the other folks.

Right, right. I shoulda thought of that. Or restaurant service!
Or for an airline:mad: (leaving for work now)

Good point but I think we get it:rolleyes:
Though some don't really think of it (like anyone who works for the gov:D) unfortunately for plenty of us a holiday is absolutely NO different than any other day

Its all good, he was making a point and we ALL got it, right? :p

Moving right along now:D

I work the grave shift so usually once or twice a night I stop by to see what is going around this site.

Sorry dude, im on my last day off, im back in tomorrow at stupid o'clock though, so I might see ya here if your around.

Well, my epic plan to stop being a Night Owl didn't work. At all.

See, I skipped a night and went to bed early (8:30 PM). The thing is, I slept so much it didn't make any difference. I go up at 2:30 PM, 18 hours later with no interruption. Now my back hurts.

Ugh, back at work tonight!! But it's almost over and then I have two more days and then it's the weekend again!! I love short weeks!!!
