Did you get the Galaxy Ace update yet?

Actually, the S5830XXKPE build on samfirmware.com, is in fact the most stable and believed by many to be the original and final gingerbread from Samsung, so i guess it will be arriving at least in June..

hey i bought the phone frm the middle east, but now ive moved to india( im an indian) so will i get the update wen india getss it or wen the middle east gets it

There really were no promise from samsung about gingerbread to Ace in may, it would be good if we get it in june or july:)
End sure I got no update yet in Estonia (phone bought from France)

can you please let us know your current firmware version ?

I upgraded my Galaxy Ace to Gingerbread 2.3.3 using ODIN 4.38 and thought that it cured the 'Sleep Bug' but has twice since failed to wake up from sleep.

As the phone is only 10 days old am getting service provider to replace it and will then wait for the official Gingerbread release.

Havent told service provider about the upgrade but will be too late by then as they would of replaced my phone.

If they ask will just say it upgraded when connected to KIES.

Cheers

Matt.

This is strange why they deliver updates like this, Apple for example always give it's updates sumultaneously all over the world and nobody have to wait long for it. I'm much more happy with my iPhone than with Android...

Samsung use different firmwares as per region / country.... as in india we can read indic languages on it.....

You wanna say iPhone doesen's support indic or arabic? I think it does and still updates are coming simultaneously.

 :(
Why would you think he was blasting the iPhone?
He was just saying that Apple provide same update for all regions, but Samsung provides different firmwares suited for different regions, hence different dates, so don't take it the wrong way, but people don't like Apple around here, talking about iPhone on an Android forum is useless.

and one more thing
Android is top smartphone OS in the US, iOS is a close second - GSMArena.com news
iOS is good, but it also has too many limitations.

I'm not saying he is blasting iPhone. I just see the difference in support and updates and making a comparison about this.
I have both of them (iOS and Android) and saying that Apple can do all this (updates) better and faster for all, not making people wait for uncear period of time. That's why I'm happier with iOS on android forum:(

1. Connect your phone to your PC and make sure it is connected to the internet..
2. run kies.. if kies shows a message that an update is available for your phone.. the PDA and CSC numbers should show KP8 most probably if its a gingerbread update..
3. after updating your firmware go to menu>settings>about phone and scroll down to see Build Number... If it says GINGERBREAD.XXKP8 or something like that then you've successfully updated your phone to gingerbread..

I don't know much about it but i think some providers will give OTA updates (your phone will display a message saying the update is available)..

HELP...every time i connect my phone and after a while it says "connection lost" why. help me before i throw this phone out the window.

Hi Brett35,

Can you please confirm if this happens only when you are connected to Kies using the USB cable??? Try the USB Data connection and see if you are loosing connection intermittently... if you are then my guess will be that the cable is faulty!!!

That's no problem mate

Don't start Kies when you do this...When you connect the phone to PC/Laptop you'll see it starts charging. You'll also notice a notification in the notification with the USB Connection... Open Notification pane and tap on the USB Connection Notification. You'll see a button at the bottom that says Start USB Data connection... just tap it and then tap OK on the popup... in a couple of seconds you'll see something like Removable Drive in your drives... that's your micro SD connected for data transfer... See if you have the same problem...
If no then re-install Kies and try it...

You'll get the USB cable in any local mobile/ Computer store... or order one on the web...
