the galaxy ace does lack flash, but having youtube you dont really need flash, except when on a website when you want to watch it of course. i was in the exact same position with either wildfire s htc legend or the ace, ive gone for the ace, it seems like a really Good phone!!

Wildfire S is a waste of money when you can get better features at a lower price in the Ace, so i'd say go with Ace ;)

I would get the Galaxy Ace if I were you.. Its better in most ways and it looks loads nicer as well... and it has a slightly bigger and better screen :D

Go for HTC. Galaxy Ace looks good but under the hood its not that strong. The internal memory is peanuts (200mb~) battery life sucks like hell.

At the end of the day it is Android phone, You will need a phone with better battery life and memory. Galaxy ace looks good but isnt strong once you load the apps.

i just and went and brought the ace instead of the htc legend and wildfire s, the obly bad thing about seem to be flash!! really happy about the phone, looks a bit nicer than wildifire s as well

anyone know were a i can find a side by side video review of the samsung galaxy ace and htc wildfie s cant seem to find any on you tube

I was also confuse..... bt gone with the ace...... wildfire s is having more RAM & Internal memory..... Galaxy ace has powerful processor of 800 MHz with a dedicated graphic card.... My battery works for 1 day with wifi use..... unless 2 days.....
Wildfire s also don't have flash....
The HTC Sense is a more stylish UI......
Touchwiz 3.0 is also a good UI....

So it basically depend on your usage..... You have to decide......

i searched same forum and finally got ace because of its
big screen and battery.
i want to browse net from mobile so i went with ace as it has big screen and its
big battery can work even after hours of net usage.

now i own ir any happy for ace.

ps: now i am replying you from my ace :-)

hey guys dont go in by the memory the wildfire s claims of... u get less than 150mbs aftr os... wheras in ace the os part is hidden and u get 180mbs in hand...

Wildfire S is far better than Galaxy ACE
1) Wildfire S is Android 2.3 - Ace is 2.2
2) Phone Memory - around 150 Mb in Wildfire S and around 180 Mb for Ace - not much diff. You don't need to worry abt phone memory. Any way You can install Apps on SD card.
3) Galaxy Ace won't support Adobe flash.
(Youtube application - u can download for free from Android Market from any phone)
Wildfire S support Adobe flash.
4) Display: same resolution in both phones. Wildfire S has smaller display size. You can get sharper images and texts in Wildfire S
5) More RAM in wildfire S.

And the main thing - You have the beautiful HTC Sense UI in Wildfire S. - vs bad Tuch wiz UI in ace.

HTC wildfire is cheaper also.

I think Galaxy Ace is totally waste when compare to Wildfire S.

1) my ace is running 2.3.4
2) yes that's true
3) yes and no, wildfire doesn't support flash either, but either BOTH WILL PLAY FLASH OR NONE, they both have the same processor
4) yes but smaller display means you have a harder time typing
5) yes, that's a bit of a shame, although i never experienced force closes in android 2.3.4

imho htc sense looks ugly and stupid, but it fits the abysmal design of the wildfire (just my opinion though, so decide yourself). anybody who wants to buy either of them should definately check out touchwiz/sense since that's probably the biggest difference

price depends on the country, wildfire is more expensive in switzerland for example

i had play around with them in the shop and decided the wildfire s was much better then the ace when you consider an 80 euro price diff overall its amazing

I like the HTC Sense UI. (I think you havn't used seen HTC Sense)

In my knowledge, Galaxy Ace Gingerbread version is not yet released. An update is also not yet released by Samsung. How did u get 2.3 in galaxy ace? Is the update released in your country?

Wildefire S in cheaper than Ace in my country - both has almost similar features. That's why i'm suggesting wildfire S.

In galaxy ace, I think the 181MB phone memory is including OS part also. There is only less than 80 MB space available for installing apps.

i have used sense UI, i had the old wildfire, it's really just personal preference, i like it clean and neat ;).

i flashed the galaxy ace myself, but you couldn't do that with a wildfire s because of the locked bootloader, so you're stuck with the HTC rom/software. it's not rootable until now (otherwise there'd be a tutorial in this forum, no?).

i have no problems when it comes to space for apps on my ace, but if you're a messy person and like to install loads of apps you're better off with something else, but then the wildfire s isn't better either. a bit off topic but it's the same problem with harddisks, 1TB is standard nowadays and i know people who need more than 3TB, i currently use less than 10GB on my desktop so i must be different than everybody else :P. and i think you really get the 180mb because my rom is definitely bigger than that (i think around 200mb maybe? dunno).

what i'm trying to say here is that the galaxy ace offers more in terms of customizability because it's rootable, so if you don't like touchwiz you can get rid of it but you can't get rid of sense on the wildfire s. but if you never plan on rooting your phone (why get android then? :D), HTC is your choice because they generally run more stable than samsung phones... so the galaxy ace is way more exciting :P

hi, I have exactly the same confusion as you about the ace and wf-s. so did you finally make up your mind? i am planning to get my phone this weekend. please advise.

just try them out

main differences:
wildfire s - galaxy ace
screen: 3.2" screen - 3.5" screen
UI: sense ui - touchwiz
root: hard to root, or even impossible - superoneclick or update file to root, really easy
processor: 600mhz - 800mhz
ram: 512mb - 280mb or sth

the hardware is mostly the same except for the ram, so it really comes down to looks and rootability.

if you have large fingers i wouldn't recommend a 3.2" screen, at least 3.5" or even 4", e.g. my father can't even type on my ace.

both devices are capable of running gingerbread, samsung is just really lazy and doesn't release it, but flashing the leaked version wasn't such a big deal and i've never done it before. galaxy ace will get a cwm recovery soon so i guess in a few months we'll have a couple of custom roms (i read that cyanogenmod is already ported, they're only waiting for cwm, but that's just rumours :P). just remember, if you get the wildfire s, you'll most likely be stuck with the stock rom and (non)sense.

I too had the same confusion, but finally went with ACE. There is no clear winner, rather it depends on your use. My reasons where, ACE has 800 Mhz processor(I read somewhere that it was a turbo chip and not a overclocked one) and it has bigger screen size. Yes, the dpi of wildfire s is higher but it is not very noticeable. The gingerbread update will come to ACE. It is just a matter of time. Though it has lesser RAM than wildfire s, but unless you want to run too many apps simultaneously it will not be a issue. Also another important thing is, it can be rooted easily (just in case) where as it is very difficult to root wildfire S.

Ace's UI is slow adn WF S is not, so make a decision, and there is still no 2.3 offcial update for Ace (may be it'll fix this slowness, I don't know)...

i would add to this by saying that anyphone when placed to ace side by side looks pretty boring. ace has got stunning looks.

would love to see a debate over ace vs motorola defy though. In India defy just moved in ace's price range.
