Official android 2.2 (froyo) release for orange san francisco.

Not really unless you spend ages at it, but you'll hardly want to go back to stock! You can get an app like Titanium Backup to backup important apps!

The main reason I want a back up, is so if I take the phone back because it breaks, I can restore everything, so it can be taken back.

Sure, but I mean if check the MD5s nothing can really go badly wrong unless you have an actual hardware fault (which Orange would be obliged to fix)

I was super nervous about rooting and changing the rom on my OSF as well. I read the stickied guides but I still wasn't 100% clear (I'm a bit of a thicko!). Thankfully on these hallowed forums there are some real blademasters. El Presidente, Shadowninty and dannymur answered a million of my daft questions and gave me the confidence to take the plunge and try changing roms.

I had my orange bloatware for one evening before switching to Swedish Spring (2.2 - Froyo). The handset was much nicer afterwards.

Last night (two weeks after getting my handset) I upgraded to Gen2 and installed CyanogenMod7 (2.3.4 - Gingerbread). I'm not sure which rom I prefer yet but I love being able to choose. :D

I love my OSF, I love Android and I love these forums!

And we luv you too man

Think shud we get a room :D

Is there a way to do a complete a full back up of the phone, so you can restore everything? :)

If you stay on GEN1, there is, as I have said on three separate occasions now, the Nandroid backup in Clockwork...exasperation sets in.....I have given links and instructions in at least two previous posts in this thread.

You do not have to go to GEN2 as a first step at all.....You could go to Froyo Swedish Spring 5 (2.2) GEN1, and have the Nandroid backup of your current set-up on your SD card, in case anything went wrong.

This is a complete and total backup of your current set-up......and you would be able to revert to what you have now....if you continue with GEN1 for the moment, or until you feel confident to take the next step, to GEN2, CM.

SO the answer to your question is YES, depending on staying with GEN1 for the present!!!!!!

My last post on the issue......
