does it have a spring or does it give a little when pressed? i've never heard, seen or used a capacitive one before. have used stylus for resistive screens. also, if i was going to get one, i would definitely feel more comfortable if the screen is protected first. thanks for the info.

The little rubber half ball I guess you could call it pushes in when it is pushed down. It feels like it is just open on the inside so it does give when being used. If that makes any sense, lol

What does the stylus help with on the tab that your fingers can't do?

It leaves no finger prints and its just a nice change of pace from using your finger. Im currently testing it with some drawing apps and some actual writing apps as well.

Well I can see using it with the drawing apps and note taking apps. Do you type with it as well? I guess my annoyance with it would be to carry it around with you all the time, but I guess thats why you buy several.

So after messing with the stylus and different apps over my trip, it doesn't replace a good old pen and paper in my honest opinion. I found the 2 best apps were Handrite and Genial Writing and it was still a far from perfect note taking experience. Dotting the letter "i" for example doesnt always get picked up depending on the app your in. It also has a learning curve that will take some getting used to. Unfortunately, I think the best option for notes on the SGT 10.1 is a bluetooth keyboard, or just a good pen and paper.

i don't think anything can ever replace pen and paper for people like you and me who grew up with it. it will be a total adjustment. i believe people who do shorthand can be successful.

thanks for this. It seems like it has to at least be faster than index finger hunt and peck on the on-screen keyboard.

maybe nice for taking mobile payments where people can sign something... hmmm

I have one similar to this, and as for drawing, its not very fast in following, if you were to make small strokes fast then most of them wont register. notes, again its not precise enough to write anything legible within a reasonable size. I tried, thinking it would be a good alternative to getting a keyboard to take notes, but doesn't really work for me. one place i did find it useful are games, much easier to press smaller buttons and not hit the back or menu button on the screen.

I bought 5 for 5 bucks on ebay. My wife needed it because of her fingernails. It is smaller than a finger tip so it is slightly more accurate.
