Google maps mark current location?

Can you do this in Google Maps or can anyone recommend an application for this? Im not trying to mark an address, but a location. I was out this weekend and found an area that I would like to get back to for fishing but there was no way to mark the location :( Even the cheapest of GPS will do this so I cant imagine that there is not a way.

I like the look of gps essentials but the damn dashboard takes up half of the screen. would be nice if you could remove some of the rows on that. I havent looked at waypoint free yet. Thanks for the suggestions! I also read about something called find my car or similar. It only allows to set one waypoint it seems though.

Yes, there are car finder apps too. Not sure about the ones on Android, never used them. But I used an app called CarFinder AF on my BlackBerry. It actually worked pretty well!

I love GPS apps.

I agree! :D I also dont see where either of the two above will give you directions back to a place. Only mark them. I need to play with them some more. The car finder apps only interest me because they will direct you back to a location... <grin> . too bad they will not allow you to store more than one waypoint.

in Google Maps long press the spot on the map that you want to save (including your current location - the blue arrow) and then select "Send Location to Others" and then just email or text it to yourself. no need for additional software. IMO never install additional software if it's not necessary.

good luck.

Have a look at 'FishingJornal' from Jornl Team.
I save my waypoints with an other app from Jornl Team. The app works very well for my :)

I wish you would input coordinates in Google Maps. Even saving a location does not show or save the coords as far as I know.

I would like to correct my statement :)

Today I used an other waypoint app for saving my coordinates in the wilderness. Then I put this coordinates in Google Maps and that waypoint was shown exactly in the wilderness, not a road near that waypoint.

Why was this so? An additional number in brackets was attached at the coordinates.
This attached number causes Google to show the exact waypoint and not a road near that waypoint!

But my outdoor nav app (ViewRanger) shows the exact waypoint without that additional number :)

So this additional number in brackets is a Google Maps thing.
And so if you want to put wilderness coordinates in Google Maps, look at the number in brackets. Or add it by yourself (if you know the coding) :)
EDIT: My number was (3)
EDIT2: Only the bracket is important. You can put in it what you want :)
