oleophobic?

Can someone explain why my Cricket Indulge (SCH-R915) has an oleophobic (smudge resistant) screen yet the specs do not mention it?
 
Such a pleasant surprise, thank you Samsung. (if you do not believe me then compare the screen with the screen on the Huawei Ascend or any other cheap touchscreen phone).

According to wikipedia regarding Super AMOLED screens "One of the main differences from other display technologies is that the layer which detects touch is integrated into the screen rather than being overlaid on top. Compared with the first-generation AMOLED, some of the Super AMOLED advantages are brighter screens, less sunlight reflection and reduced power consumption"

When using the phone outside the screen looks better (less glare) than the Ascend and also when viewed at an angle you do not get backlight leakage and the colors still look good. The Indulge screen may not be LED but it obviously has some shared characteristics of Samsung's other Super AMOLED screens.

In other words the screen on the Indulge (even though it is LCD and low res) is much better than the screens on other phones using the same resolution like the Ascend etc.

I had an iPad, the iPad has an oleophobic touch screen, the Indulge looks and feels exactly the same to me. Also I am sitting here looking at the Ascend and the Ascend shows the oil from the fingers through the display distorting images and pixels. The Indulge does not distort any of the screen's images no matter how much I rub my fingers on it, and it's much slicker and easier for my fingers rub across the screen (which are halmarks of an oleophobic touch screen).

The Indulge screen is obviously oleophobic and is resisting finger oil smudges from distorting the screen.

Gotta love samsung for putting a high-end feature on a midrange phone when they didn't have to.
 
I have to admit the screen on this phone is pretty bad ass! Hell my friend who has an HTC Sensation was actually impressed by the sreen on my Indulge. Also by personal experience, seems to be scratch resistant. Twice the phone had fallen in between the car seat and landed screen first onto the metal rail. The only way to get it out was to slide it backand to my surprise, no type of scratch at all.

Yes, it does have an anti-scratch surface as well, but usually you get that when it is oleophobic. It really is a great phone.http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-indulge/372826-oleophobic.html

I do too have the ipad(first gen) and i do agree the screen feels the same. Not sure about the ascend since i never had the chance to try it out
