Gingerbread fix for screen?

The "pixelation problem" is overblown IMHO. You can't go by these screenshots you see online - the display when seen in person looks nothing like that. If you get really close you can see some minor pixelation, but that's splitting hairs IMHO. I mean, I don't like that it's there, but unless I'm really, really trying to look for it I can't see it. The other benefits of higher resolution, brighter screen and better whites and richer, deeper colors far outweigh any super close up pixelation one might see.

Totally true. The pixelation is not a problem. I've got great eyesight and I can't understand why this is anything but only a complaint. Some have made it sound as if the screen quality is subpar. IT IS NOT.

Wow. Its all over the reviews, how shitty it is. My jaw dropped when i activated this pos. You people are ok with this?

It bothered me at first, but I got used to it - especially coming from an iPhone 4. Try looking at an iPhone 4 screen in sunlight or wearing polarized sunglasses. Now look at the DX2 in the same envirnoment. The DX2 looks much better.

will people stop defending the screen? That has nothign to do with what the OP was asking. To answer your question, OP, it's possible if the pixelation is caused by some setting, but I think it might be more of a hardware problem.

And if you don't think the gradiation is a problem, you might be blind. It's not just pixelation.

talk about defending something just because you own it. What we should all be doing is writing motorola/complaining to get replacements with a better screen.

I never understood why people would defend what is clearly a design defect. It's like the whole apple iphone 4 where apple fanboys still defended the iphone..."oh, ill just get a case to cover up the problem"

I suppose the answer is then: NO...Gingerbread will not make you feel better about the screen if the something wrong is your screen.

You apparently have a different screen than I do. I have some issues with the phone that I think are inexcusable but the screen is not one of them hothead. I, and we, are not blind. Maybe you see in a heightened or longer spectrum than I or maybe your phone is different. Maybe don't hold the phone 3 inches from your eyeball. I don't defend the phone because I own it. Nothing is wrong with my screen. If you are looking for people to pile on with you and they do not; stop with the insults and condescension. Stop with being so angry. Stop with thinking everyone is experiencing the same thing you are. The world is big. I, you, and we are not.

god this is getting really old, for anyone who compalins about pixelation, #1, why are you holding the phone that close to your face, and #2, if it bothers you so much, get a different phone, yes I too have noticed it, but if your using the phone like it was meant to be used......you know, a smartphone, its not noticeable, I myself, coming to the DX off a Samsung Fascinate noticed the screen wasn't as nice looking as the SF super AMOLED screen, but honestly, who the hell cares, it serves its purpose

I have to say that I like the X2 and have no problems with the screen. I like how I can see it outside in the sunlight. I can't believe how people are complaining about this phone I really like it.

The ability to see it in the sunlight was one of the main things I liked about it. I literally wore out (I'm sort of rough on phones) an Incredible, and loved it---but if I was outside, it was not usable. Since I live in FL sunshine is in great supply!

i just held the phone as far as possible and it still looks shitty.

Why is it that when I watch hd movies I don't see this pixelation problem? They look awesome. But the ui and apps do! I have a inclination that our displays will get better with software updates. The apps probably aren't ready for our kickass screens yet. ( I sell tvs and having an awesome flick that I can mirror out too sells more tvs. In case your wondering.)

Some people just repeat things that others say. Like when my dad told me how good the picture was on our HD TV even though it was an SD program.

I have zero issues with the screen. The phone has some problems, but nothing that is a deal breaker and I actually love the screen. Much better than my OG Droid. That said, I am going to give it to my brother and grab a Bionic when it launches if it is the phone I want it to be.

It is almost a sickness to be overly discriminating to prove your standards and intelligence are above men. Yung Lee-Ahang

People that don't notice the bad screen quality must not be dx1 people or something. I read somewhere that someone turned down the contrast to 200 and it helped tremendously. But how? Thought i bookmarked it.

I just noticed my 1080p 240 mhz tv is composed of dots when I get really close....lol

That's why there are viewing distance guidelies for tv's. I actually bought a 55" LED thinking it was going to be too big for the 10' distance to my couch, but its so clear that 6' was LG's minimum viewing distance. What is dx2's viewing distance? Same as my tv but on a 4.3" screen. Lol.

??? Tvs display quality has a lot to do with content or media used. Manufacturers plays a part as well but all tvs will look like shit if you hook up a vcr with coax. Computers and our phones ( mini computers) need applicable software as well.

That's my point. The TV looked bad in that case, but my dad said it looked good. He was just repeating what other people said because he though HDTV automatically meant it was a good picture.
