Accessories 32gb MicroSD cards... Would you chance it?

You can call me chancy, I took the chance. :D All I can say is, the saying is true, 'if it sounds too good to be true, it is.' The card I ordered was advertised the same but it even had the picture with a card from SanDisk Trademark name and all printed on the card with "32GB". Yep, I took the chance thinking 'what's $25? and i could always try to get a refund.' I got the same cancellation email from eBay and the card still arrived. No, it's not authentic. It's integrity is lacking massively. it's return policy is buyer pays shipping. HA Probably not worth the card to return to Hong Kong, the capital of fake reproductions. Lesson learned... "IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE." :p

FYI - Paypal will still help you with the case if you want to open one. Mine is still pending, but I told them that I think it's ridiculous for me to have to pay shipping to return when the product is fraudulent.

I bought a 32GB micro SD card on eBay for $40. I thought it was probably worth the risk. It was, but I had problems at first and you may, as well. After duplicating the existing data on the original 8GB card in the EVO, everything seemed OK. But then I started missing calls because the additional custom ringtones and notifications I added were mysteriously missing!!! Sprint Support decided I need my phone replaced, but I decided to try resolve the issue myself. Multiple times, I copied ringtone folders and notification folders to the card. On restarting the phone, the folders or the contents of the folders would become deleted. To correct the problem, I used format option in the phone to reformat the new 32GB Micro SD card and then I restored the data to it. It has worked fine ever since, whether I shut the phone down or even remove the battery, the data remains on the card now. You can't expect a lightning fast flash card for only $40, but nothing I'm doing on the phone requires high speed read/write capability, anyway. I'm happy!

How much data have you put on the card? Is it the full 32 GB? Have you run any tests verifying the card is 100% legit?

Thanks for the info, congrats if you got one that works well. If you don't mind sharing your seller or a link to comparable that would be great.

Yep .. I got one for $57 on eBay, but it was no good. The memory would always switch to read-only and phone would shut itself off. Would have to remove/replace battery to turn phone on again, every time. Took memory card out, phone works fine .. wierd.

I'm only going to buy SanDisk from now on, hopefully the price comes down though.

My 32GB Sandisk that I got for $50 overnight from Verizon is awesome. Sometimes it pays to pay for a brand.

since today was my day off played around with the 32gig card. watched to of larger movies that were loaded at the end of the card. both played with out a hitch. still playing with it though. i cant complain for paying 30 bucks for it.

Agent Jones, if your 32GB micro SD card works, I would like to buy one too. Did you buy it on eBay? Who is the seller? Thanks, Greg

Don't waste your time "saving" money on fake Chinese memory cards. Which means avoid eBay and ESPECIALLY Dealextreme. Data storage is an area that you shouldn't skimp on. Buy NAME BRAND products from Amazon or Newegg. There are way too many stories about cards not working out of box or spontaneously corrupting, or space vanishing, or a host of other problems.

They are trashy cards with lower read/write speeds, and you will end up spending more replacing faulty cards over and over, then if you'd have just bought a Sandisk off Newegg.

Is anyone using a 32 gb sd in there evo, I'm thinking about buying one and I want to make sure it can use it.

Maybe I can add some input here.

We're asking the SD Memory card, to do the same basic function, as a hard drive would, in a regular computer. The SD cards "Class Rating", is just about like the throughput/speed rating on a hard drive, given it's RPM. IE: if we want, fast loading & clear, un-choppy, video, we chose a hard drives with a higher rpm speeds.

So, the higher the Class rate number (2,4,6,10), the faster the memory R/W function, can be accessed. The 6 and 10 class are the highest rating and should give the best performance.
Honestly, price wise, SD memory is still a little too high in the current market.
And, they're are those who are taking advantage, of this pricing, and the ability to pawn off lower quality in this market.

I, also, am using the 32gb Sandisk class 4. It works fine for this non techy user.

It does "seem" faster than the class 2 (same brand) card that I replaced. That is a subjective oppinion, as I don't have the skills or knowledge to make a direct speed comparison. YMMV

how cheep/expensive is a class 4 32gb?

I recently bought Patriot class 10 for ~100 USD incl. VAT. It would be probably cheaper in the US with lower tax rates.
Works great. Whole Europe maps for navigation, music, photos...and still lot of free space. :D
