No more free mp3 download apps?

Hey everyone, got a dinc2 about a month ago and recently went to the market for a free mp3 download app...but there aren't any. I've used several in the past but I can't find any in the market anymore. Has Google banned these apps? I'm rooted and running OMFGB rom so it can't be Verizon blocking them, they weren't showing up on the stock rom either. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Yeah, google doesn't like to assist in piracy...go figure...

If you can remember the names of any of the apps you have used in the past the apk files shouldn't be difficult to find with a google search. I really can't assist any further in your pursuit unless you want to hear my lecture on why you should pay for your mp3 files and want a link to the amazon mp3 app in the market.

Apparently not just download apps, either. Looks like Ghost Town is gone too, and that was just streaming music :(

OK, cool, but do any of those let you pick an artist, then a, then song? Like, there is an artist I like, and I don't know the name of songs, i just want to hear the new album-i don't want to download the thing, I don't want to own it, I just want to find it, easily, and listen. I have, use, and love ghost town, but now my boyfriend also has a smartphone and one of the things he was looking forward to was ghost town.

Thanks lexluthor, Added tinyshark to the list in the sticky.

The thing about Grooveshark is that they were trying to go legit and negotiate licenses but they are currently being sued by several of the large record labels.

My sense is they will get shutdown within a year. And their original app was pulled from the Android Market. Tinyshark is made by a separate developer to listen to the grooveshark service.

You can look at services like Spotify, Mog, Rdio or Napster.

I was pretty sure for spotify you had to have an account or program on your home computer, right? I don't have a computer or home Internet....phone only

With all of those services you can only stream to mobile if you're got a subscription. There is no legal way that I'm aware of to stream music to a mobile device without paying for it somewhere unless you're looking at Pandora or similar services, but you can't always choose the music that's streamed though.
