Fram has been the most dead-on in this thread so far, no disrespect meant towards anyone else. Verizon doesn't post push dates for various reasons. As we saw this past month, Verizon has MANY devices that require updates, and they don't like to do simultaneous pushes. Verizon also has to test updates as OEMs push them on Verizon. When Verizon determines that the update is "gold," they then see what the que is.
For example, let's say that the Incredible, Thunderbolt, Droid 2, and Xoom all have updates that are considered good. Based on priority, they may decided to launch them in the order of; Xoom, TB, Inc, D2. So, that seems like our update comes on week 3, right?
First Monday goes without a hitch and the Xoom gets updated. So, the TB should get updated in week 2. Second Monday sees some network issues, so everything gets knocked back a week. Week 3 comes and the TB sees a push, but Verizon also found another bug in the Inc software and kicks it back to HTC. More phone updates become ready and they re-prioritize.
Under this scenario, our update can go from being 1 week off to being kicked back to another 6-8 weeks of testing. Guess what, that's almost exactly what happened with the Froyo update. It got pushed back from mid-July to the end of August. So, if we have an update coming, and even if Evan is legit, he (nor anyone else) can't say with any certainty that the update is coming at a specific date. The most I've ever seen Verizon give is about 3 days notice. So, our update, if it is coming, is at least 4 days off as of this post, and anyone who has a specific date after that is either lying, misinformed, or just hoping nothing happens with the current que.
I'm with the majority in that I just want a definite "yea or nay" on the update. If I know it's coming, I can be patient. But, if it's cancelled or was never meant to be, that's something I would like to know. Thankfully, to this point, HTC has been good about saying when an update would be the last for a phone. We haven't officially heard this from HTC yet.
