Stratosphere Release

Looks like GT-I9210 model in that report seems to be Celox (4.5" WVGA, dual core, LTE) that leaked a few days ago from Korea.

The specs match down to the weight and the camera specs.. but no mention of CDMA :(

If the Stratosphere ain't it.. the SGS2 is never coming to Verizon. The link in the other thread says the "source" told droid-life the Stratosphere was the Samsung Epic-like slider with 4G.

Unfortunately it kind of makes sense.. the Epic already has a separate Qualcomm CDMA baseband, it wouldn't be that hard to swap it out for the MDM9600 or a the Samsung CMC2200 used in the Droid Charge.. especially since you can drop the WiMAX modem, too.

That's if we completely believe the previous leaked Verizon roadmap. I'm also leaning to stratosphere becoming slider based on leaks today. But I don't think Samsung will forgo Verizon with SGS2 when they release it to other US carriers.

I actually got excited about LG Revolution 2 in that list of new phones today. If that's really HD display, dual core, LTE phone coming in Fall for Verizon, it's hugely improved sequel to somewhat underwhelming Revolution. I hope that leaked roadmap is right on Revo 2 date. Then it deserves getting forum here I think.

I noticed that one too. If verizon doesn't get true LTE SGS2 like leaked Celox soon after stratosphere, I might be getting that one instead. it may be a good plan B.

So now the Stratosphere isn't the SGSII.

Not very freaking surprising.

I'm starting to doubt the idea of the SGSII being released on Verizon any time soon.

It makes sense that the Stratosphere is launching on same day as Bionic. A slider won't be too much competition and I don't think will dent the Bionic sales very much.

Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but what are the known specs of this slider? If it's 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos w/1GB RAM, SAMOLED+, and LTE then I don't really care if it has a keyboard or not. Do we know this phone is inferior to SGS2?

Not that I know of. Maybe you're right. Unless the Moto LTE chip is revolutionary battery-life wise, SAMOLED+ is worth the stupid keyboard.

If anything, it will only be as fat as that pig Bionic.

supposed single core lte maybe at 1.2ghz, 512 ram, so yes it isn't a sgs2 variant just a rehash of the epic.

I agree and saying it will be as thin as the i4. DAMN that will be what the original revo should have been. Can't wait to see what they announce in the next few months.

Ah, okay. Well I'm still holding out hope the leak is wrong and Stratosphere really is an SGS2.

Even if it was just dual core and had more ram it would be a nice phone. But then again maybe this will be marketed as mid level so it doesnt bring the hefty price tag all the other lte phones do. And since it is rumored for the same day as the bionic it makes sense for it to be a lesser phone so they don't undercut sales of their droid line.

Now the game is on. This kind of "leak" is exactly what I would expect to see if the Stratosphere really isn't SGS2, planted so as to take out the sting of foiled expectations. However, I'm waiting to see it corroborated. Either there will be another leak from a different source that basically says; yeah, the Stratosphere is the slider OR we will have something that says...eh, not so fast. If it will be the latter then it could be as soon as tomorrow. Believe me, Samsung is paying attention to the hype (on the blogs and forums) and they will want to control it without giving actual facts away as much as possible.

At the moment, I still think the SGS2 is the Stratosphere. In any case, I'm not too worried. The first dual core, 1GB, non-pentile screen phone available that feels good in my hand and gets great reviews will get my monetary vote and my adoration for the next two years. I don't think I will be waiting until Christmas for this "baby".

Patience, grasshopper(s).

I like your optimism and hope SGS2 is sooner than we think. Looks like we will be informed details on it by end of this month. In any case, there is Revo 2, Prime as plan B for me.:)

I'm still saying the stratosphere is the slider. Verizon isn't going on release two dual core lte phones on the same day. Sorry you can keep thinking that but it's a droid phone and email aren't going on undercut their droid brand with a better phone the same day.

Ok. This is the first time I've followed a phone release so it will be interesting to see what predictions pan out. So in that spirit let me say that I really don't buy that the Bionic and Stratosphere will be released the same day regardless of what the Stratosphere is. There's nothing to say the release dates in that spreadsheet are real anymore than they are somebody's idea of a prank. This is all based on rumor upon leak upon rumor... So what will be true? We'll find out soon I suspect. :)

From what I've read there's suppose to be a "Samsung Galaxy S2-Pro" version as well that will compete with the iPhone 5. Maybe the Stratosphere is a slider, but it's most likely going to be a dual core. Not single core like everyone has been saying. The "pro" is suppose to be 1.4ghz, etc.

Lets hope you're right but the leaked shots and testers said it was single core maybe 1.2 ghz. If it is dual core that would be a big win for those who like keyboards.

The fact that Verizon phones are going through FCC for months ahead of their supposive release dates makes me uncomfortable that we haven't seen a SGSII version of anything.

Don't get your hopes up for a sgs2 anytime soon. Also usually the lower end phones they dont try to keep a secret whereas with their high end phones they usually wait to put it through the fcc. Also, this phone if it is one listed on the leak roadmap it is supposed to come out early sept so that is less than a month which is normal for most phones between going through the fcc and then being released(most of the time)

I'll take the slider if it's a dual core, but no way will I take another single core. My Infuse is going back on the 20th, so I guess I'm going to be without a phone for some time. (Yes, I'm with AT&T, sadly). 512mb ram is just way too low for my standards. I'm usually running in the 200mb zone with nothing open, it's stupid.
