How to change my Google Account?

Knerd

Lurker
When I first turned on my HTC Desire, I used an old gmail account to activate the phone, cus I thought I could just change it later. Well, now is later, and i'm phasing my old hotmail account out to a gmail account with a more mature address. Problem is, my HTC Desire is still stuck with the old gmail.
How do i change my account without dooing a factory reset? I've been googling around a bit and found that I need to go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Google Apps and clear data. Well my phone language is in Danish, and it's Indstillinger>Programmer>Administrer Programmer, but theres no such thing as a "Google Apps" tab on my phone...
Is it all google and HTC apps with the Market icon/label that I need to clear or what?
I tryed clearing the Gmail app, Google Goggles, Google partner setup, Google services Framework, and the Market app, but I didn't get a "!" and a chance to setup a new gmail.
I also tryed setting up a new gmail in Accounts/sync. It works, but only for a few seconds before it disapears again.

What am I to do? Witch apps needs to be cleared? Is factory reset the only way? And if so, is there any way to save the progress on my Cookie Dozer game:o?

I have a similar issue. I got tired of 100 spams a day and wanted to shut down my gmail. I deleted the account and now can not get into market. Everything else seems to work OK. Can I switch the market to a new gmail address? I don't want to do a factory reset either. It took too long to get my Optimus V to where I have it. I feel like an idiot (rightly so I suppose).

I think I got my account back. I went to google and entered "can't access my account" they sent an email to my secondary account to reset the password and now the gmail account works again.

On my Samsung Galaxy SL, there's a Menu>Settings>Accounts and Sync option. In is listed my my Facebook, Twitter and Google accounts. If I open the Google Account, there's a big "remove account" button at the bottom. I would assume there was a similar menu for you?

#5 True, there is, but if i press it I get a message saying that this can't be done unless I do a factory reset... And that's what i'm trying to avoid...

So this worked for you? You changed your mail account?
(This same issue arises when you try to change your account password, btw...)

Yes it worked. I filled out a form through google saying I could not access the account I closed. Almost like reporting being hacked. They emailed my secondary email address a link to reset the account and create a new password. When I did the closed account came back just fine.

Well, it didn't work with my Huawei Ascend. I have been trying so many different things. Google is so stupid, can't believe they don't have a fix to this!!
